Marc Levy is the champion of Event 13 at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Levy defeated a field of 190 entries in the $300 Seniors Event, winning the trophy and the top prize of $14,048 for his outright victory.

The champ is a 50-year-old semi-professional player from Boynton Beach, Florida. “I used to play professionally, but then I started a business,” Levy said after the win. His new medical marketing operation has relegated poker to a part-time hobby once again, but it’s something he still takes quite seriously. Levy has played five events so far during this series and cashed in each of them, earning nearly $25,000 in the process. This was his third final table appearance, and this one culminated in victory.

Levy was the chipleader when the money bubble burst with 18 players remaining, and he was third in chips when they combined around the ten-handed final table. For a while, though, it looked like Italy’s Luca Famea was going to storm to victory. Famea had more than half the chips in play with seven players left, but Levy waited patiently for a favorable spot. And he eventually found one.

The pivotal hand played out with six players remaining. Levy limped under the gun with pocket threes, and Famea put in a small raise with aces. Levy called, and promptly flopped a set on a king-three-deuce flop. The chips got all in on the turn, and Levy’s double-up gave him a big lead that he would not relinquish for the rest of the night.

“Once I got the chips, I felt really comfortable about beating everyone,” Levy said. About an hour later, he was sitting alone at the table with all the chips, posing for winner’s photos with his new trophy.
