2018 May Deep Stack Poker Series
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
$150 Deep Stack Turbo NLH (Re-Entry)
Prize Pool: $14,640
May 20, 2018
Event 2 was a one-day trophy event with an evening start, perfect for those who wanted to play some Sunday poker or those who busted from the restart of Event 1. The tournament easily surpassed its $10,000 Guarantee and SHRP regular Jose Reyes zoomed to the victory after a heads-up deal with Nicholas Gagne.
The tournament drew 122 entries to create a prize pool worth $14,640 with the last 16 earning some money. As expected with the snappy format, they were in the money an hour after registration closed and at the final table an hour after that.
Reyes and Gagne made the final table along with multiple SHRP champion Raminder Singh and the husband/wife duo of Paulette and Carl Pipitone. They all dropped out one after another in quick fashion until only two were left.
Reyes held the lead 1,435,000 to 1,005,000 and the two agreed to a deal to divide up the remaining prize pool down the middle with Reyes getting the odd dollar extra along with the Deep Stack Poker Series trophy.
The cash pushed Reyes further over $200,000 in a career that saw him win a WSOP Circuit ring in Coconut Creek earlier in the year. He followed that up with two Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown final tables including a runner-up finish in the Turbo Event 22.
Congrats to Reyes and thanks to everyone for the great one-day event.
