Event 12: Card in the Air

$200 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better

Blinds: 1k/2k

The players are back in their seat after dinner to play down to the final table, the money, and eventually the winner. There are 16 left but one of those didn’t have a lot of fun during the break.

Max Jones at Table 40 lost the last hand before dinner and was left with just 1,000 and the button.

“If that guy just had a 1,000 more in his stack,” he said, “I won’t be here.”

Jones was the runner up in an even chop with the leader in last week’s PLO tournament.

Event 13: Filling the Room

$260 + $40 No Limit Hold’em

Blinds: 50/100

The upstairs tables are beginning to fill as the board reads 68 entrants at the start of Level 2. Among those players are Event 6 champion Andrew Frier and the final table bubble boy from that tournament Michael Filipelli.

All are trying to get a piece of the $30,000 guaranteed prizepool and they have 90 more minutes to register or re-enter.

Event 12: Dinner Time

$200 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better

The 9-seat on Table 41 was really trying to bust out of the tournament and even tried to talk staff out of sending the field on dinner break. He kept pushing his chips in the middle to double up or chop the pot.

“I have (Miami) Heat tickets,” he explained, “and the game starts in an hour.”

He tried once again with AcQh4c3h and was all-in against the 7-seat’s AhJhJs3s. If he was trying to get eliminated, it was an awfully good PLO8 hand to double. He jumped ahead on the QdTh3d flop and followed that up with the turned boat courtesy of the Qc leaving the 7-seat drawing practically dead.

The 9-seat once again doubled up but he was able to accomplish his goals by eventually losing to the 5-seat. The 7-seat probably wishes the basketball fan had just surrender his stack to save him some chips.

The players are now off on a 45-minute dinner break with 16 players left in the tournament.

Event 13: No Limit Nighttime Poker

$260 + $40 No Limit Hold’em

Blinds: 25/50

The evening event of the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” is underway. The $300 No Limit Hold’em Event 13 has a big $30,000 guaranteed prizepool and The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock will be busy all night long.

Players begin with 8,000 in their stacks and play 30-minute levels, registration is open until the start of Level 5 and players can re-enter during that time if they are knocked out of the tournament.

We will be here until the end of the day bring live updates.

Event 12: Shooting Angles

$200 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better

Blinds: 400/800

Table 41 continues to entertain even if the early surly participants are long since gone. There was accidental action at the table and floor staff were forced to make a decision to let the action stand. “If you do it again,” he explained, “or if we think you’re angle shooting then you’ll get an orbit penalty.”

“How can you tell if it’s an angle,” the gentleman asked.

“Once is an accident, twice is a shooting an angle,” responded the 9-seat, generating a round of laughter.

Player are heading into the final level before a 40-minute dinner break. Errol Massey is working his stack and the local is looking for his first final table of the series.

Event 12: Break Time Again

$200 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better

Blinds: 200/400

Players are back from their second break of the day and we are already down to four tables with just 31 remaining. They will soon all be gathered in the back of the room with one of them in the running for the title.

The last elimination before the break happened when the 3-seat at Table 37 called all-in after the 9-seat bet the pot after the AdJc3d with AcAsKdKc up against AhJd4d2d. The all-in player was ahead with top set but up against a lot of draws for the win and/or chop.

The Js turn boated the 3-seat leaving the 9-seat looking for the low or a miracle scoop. The dealer slapped the 5d on the river and the table took a second before the shock ended.

“Oh (redacted)!”, the 2-seat yelled. The rest of the table realized the 9-seat hit a two-outter on the river for a Steel Wheel and scoop. It was unfortunate end in an unlucky hand.

Event 12: Registration Closed

$200 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better

Blinds: 100/200

Registration is finally closed for Event 12 and the final number of entrants is 67 making the official prizepool $13,400. Tournament staff are crunching the numbers and we will have payout information as soon as it’s available.

Players were told at the beginning of the level they had 40 more minutes of re-entry and several people used that to push around their stacks. Table 41, which has been the most vocally surly table of the lot, found a three-way pot with a double elimination.

The 5-seat had his opponents covered with the top two with the  nut flush draw plus gutshot Broadway draw on the  KsTc3c board holding AcKdQcTd against JsJd7d7c and Ah6s3s2h. He was ahead in the and went runner-runner QdQs for the boat Queens over Kings. Both players ran to the cage as the level ended to buy back in.

“That was a good board for my hand,” he joked.
