Event 51: Second H.O.R.S.E.

H.O.R.S.E. tournaments are one of our most popular mix events and we put two of them on the Showdown schedule. The second one gets underway at noon with a $1,100 buy-in and two-day structure.

Players start with 30K in their stacks and all levels last 40 minutes. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 7:30 pm following the 60-minute dinner break.

The tournament will play through Level 15 and survivors at that point will bag up for a Day 2 return tomorrow at noon.

Event 50: Two-Day $2K

Today’s big schedule starts at 11 am with Showdown Event 50 in the Grand Ballroom. The $2,200 Deep Stack has $200,000 guarantee and two-day structure to give them plenty of space to make their moves.

Players start with 25K stacks and all levels last 30 minutes until going to 40 at the final table. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 11 at 4:45p. They will continue until they reach nine players and they will return tomorrow at noon to play the final table for the title.

Chance Kornuth

Showdown Event 40 was a 10,000 buy-in Heads-Up tournament, the first time we’ve run this format since the 2016 SHRPO series and our first-ever $10K buy-in. The tournament drew 28 entries for a prize pool worth $266,000 with the final four making the money.

Chance Kornuth took the top spot after defeating six-time Hollywood (and WPTDeepStacks) champ Scott Baumstein. Kornuth earned $133,000 for the victory and his second major Hollywood title.

Scott Baumstein limped his button for 4,000 and Chance Kornuth said “all in”. Baumstein called at risk for 64,600 and they were racing.

Baumstein had two live cards to double up but needed to improve. Instead, it was Kornuth who made a better hand with a set on the 8s6c3s flop. Baumstein was drawing dead to the Th turn and 2c river to earn $66,500 for second place.

Kornuth took the top prize of $133,000 plus his second Hollywood trophy.
