Event 10 Day 1C: New November Niner

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 8: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Total Entries: 360

Jerry Wong (Plattsburgh, NY)
Jerry Wong (Plattsburgh, NY)

We’ve had our fair share of successful players hit the ballroom for some SHRPO action and Jerry Wong can be counted among them. He has a few tournament wins to his credit, including a tournament title during our 2012 Seminole Hard Rock Summer Splash series, but he has a bigger tournament on his mind now.

Wong is part of the final table in the big daddy tournament, a brand new member of the WSOP Main Event November Nine. He locked up his spot at the table a few weeks ago and now has to wait until the end of October to get back into action.

Wong is guaranteed at least a $1,000,000 payout and will ladder up from there. His second biggest score is nothing to complain about either, a third place finish in the 2013 PCA Main Event put $725,000 in his bankroll.

Event 10 Day 1C: Santos Out on Tough Table

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 ante
Total Entries: 330

AJ "Doc" Santos
AJ “Doc” Santos

Table 50 was a tough table to draw today, some big names and top players filled in a lot of the seats.

AJ “Doc” Santos is a regular during our big SHRP events when he’s not busy grind big PLO games in our sister poker room in Tampa. He has no problem firing multiple bullets into an event and has to here.

Santos put all his chips in the middle with the board reading 8h6h4h9c and his As7h was actually ahead of his opponent’s Ah3s. Santos needed to dodge a hurt but the Jh river was no good.

While Santos was hitting the registration desk, the table still had three big spots to deal with. Noah Schwartz, Daniel Buzgon, and David Diaz were equally dispersed around the table to make it a rough road. Those three have combined for nearly $9 million in career earnings, two WSOP bracelets, and one WPT title.

Luckily for the rest, that table will be breaking soon.

Event 10 Day 1C: Massey Drops to Gomez

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: 200/400 with a 50 ante
Total Entries: 310

Aaron Massey (Elmwood Park, IL)
Aaron Massey (Elmwood Park, IL)

Two-time WSOP Circuit winner Aaron Massey is making his first appearance this series but has a little work to do with his first bullet.

He dropped down to 7,000 after mixing it up with Al Gomez then calling a small bet with the board reading 9s5h2sTs6c only to see Gomez flopped a set of ducks.

Massey has run up short stacks in the past and will need to do so if he wants to bag later tonight. A good result here for the former HPT Player of the Year will put Massey over $3 million in career earnings.

Event 10 Day 1C: Gazes Gazing at Soccer

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 ante
Total Entries: 240

Bill Gazes (Las Vegas, NV)
Bill Gazes (Las Vegas, NV)

Bill Gazes is old school poker, first tournament cash in 1993 old school. We’ve had him pop up over the last few series and he’s back with us today.

Gazes is still looking for his first major tournament victory though there were some very close calls. In his career, he’s made seven WSOP final tables, finished second in the 2007 WSOP H.O.R.S.E. event, and went to two WPT televised final tables.

Today it looks like Gazes has two priorities. Playing in the $1 Million GTD Event 10 while spending his time behind hands concentrating hard on the monitor behind him showing the US Women’s National Team Olympic soccer match versus New Zealand. Multi-tasking at its best.

Event 10 Day 1C: Cate Hall Comes to Town

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 ante
Total Entries: 220

Cate Hall (Tuscon, AZ)
Cate Hall (Tuscon, AZ)

Sheddy Siddiqui and Darryll Fish aren’t the only two SHRP team members in action today, we caught up with Cate Hall in the middle of the room for some of her first action of the series.

Hall is having a nice run over the past few months. She finished in ninth place during the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship in April, followed that up with a deep run in the $10,000 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Finale, then went to Las Vegas and cashed six times during the World Series of Poker.

Event 10 Day 1C: Quiet on Set

Level 2: 50/100
Total Entries: 180

"Baby faced" Sheddy Siddiqui (Pembroke Pines, FL)
“Baby faced” Sheddy Siddiqui (Pembroke Pines, FL)

Flight C is quickly growing and should hit 200 entrants before noon rolls around, but it’s oddly quiet in here for a ballroom full of players. It’s usually a little louder on a Friday morning but there’s only murmurs, chip shuffling, and the occasion outburst so far.

All business today.

We found two SHRP team members in early action today. Sheddy Siddiqui and Daryll Fish jumped in before lunchtime, grinding away trying to put chips in a bag.

Event 10 Day 1C: Triple Digits Early

Bradley Young (New York, NY)
Bradley Young (New York, NY)

Cards are in the air for Flight C of Event 10 with over 100 entrants at the start including Bradley Young. And he’s having a very fine week.

Young finished in second place during the $570 Double Black Chip Bounty NLH/PLO Event 7 and followed that up with his first SHRPO title by winning the $360 Pot Limit Omah/8 Event 9 two days ago.
