Event 11: Charity Event is Underway

The charity event for this series is underway in the smaller ballroom across the hall from the main tournament room, and there were 17 players who ponied up the $10,000 buy-in.

This event is hosted by the Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC (MBJCC) on the Simkins Family Campus, and a portion of the prizepool will be donated to charity.

Michael Mizrachi is the most notable player in the field, and after a couple of early eliminations, here is the lineup for the remaining 15 players:

Championship Day 2: Level 16 Begins

Level 15 comes to an end, and Level 16 begins with increased blinds of 2,000-4,000 and a 500 ante. With about 110 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 209,000 (52 big blinds).

The final 72 players will finish in the money, guaranteed at least $7,108. We expect the Money Bubble to burst before the end of the day.

There will be a 90-minute dinner break after this level (about 6:30 pm), and action will continue tonight until the end of Level 20 (about 12:15 am).

Championship Day 2: Jeff Pringle Doubles Thru John Racener

With the board showing Qh5s3h10s on the turn, Jeff Pringle checked the big blind, John Racener bet under the gun, and Pringle check-raised. Racener called.

The river card was the As, and Pringle moved all in for 91,500. Racener tanked for a long time, studying the board and Pringle (as you can see in the photo above), while Pringle avoided eye contact by looking in the other direction.

Racener eventually called, and Pringle turned over 9s3s to win the pot with a spade flush. Racener mucked.

The players return from break to begin Level 15, with increased blinds of 1,500-3,000 and a 500 ante. With about 140 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 164,000 (55 big blinds).

The final 72 players will finish in the money, guaranteed at least $7,108. We expect the Money Bubble to burst before the end of the day.

There will be a 90-minute dinner break after Level 16 (about 6:30 pm), and action will continue tonight until the end of Level 20 (about 12:15 am).

After a flop of 9c8c4s, the player in the cutoff bets 15,000, and Mukul Pahuja moves all in from the button for about 70,000.

The cutoff tanks for a long time before he folds, showing one card — the 9h. Pahuja takes the pot.

Stuart Paterson was all in from the hijack for about 35,000 with Kc10c, and he needed to improve to stay alive against the AsKd of Adam “Roothlus” Levy in the big blind.

The board came Ah6c2h5dQc, and Levy won the pot with a pair of aces to eliminate Paterson from the tournament.

Matt Affleck was all in from the hijack for nearly 20,000 with Ah5h, and he needed to improve to stay alive against the cutoff’s 7d7c.

The board came 10s4d3hAdKh — Affleck flopped a gutshot straight draw and paired his ace on the turn to win the pot and double up in chips.

With the board showing AhAc3c2d on the turn, Bruce Kramer bet 15,000 from middle position, and Dan Shak moved all in from the cutoff for about 58,000.

Kramer tanked for a while before he folded, saying, “If you have the ace, I’m dead.” Shak showed AsQh for trip aces as he took the pot.
