Event 5: Zo Karim Doubles Back

Level 20 was mostly unkind to Zo Karim. He was up around 600,000 to begin the level, but that count was more than cut in half over the span of a couple orbits. Karim regained his losses right at the tail end of the level, though.

The player in the cutoff opened with a raise, and Karim got himself all in for 298,000 in the small blind. His opponent had him slightly covered, so Karim was at risk as the cards were turned up.

Level 2 is about halfway complete, and the field has grown to more than 60 entries. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available through the first eight levels.

Some of the familiar faces in the field so far include Phil Hui, John Holley, Joe Ranciato, and Bradley Young. Hui finished as the runner-up in Event 6, and Young was part of a three-way deal in last night’s Event 7.

Registration has just closed for Day 1F and for Event 5 as a whole. The board shows an unofficial total of 425 entries for this flight, making it the largest of the six flights. The total field size ballooned past 1,800 entries, easily exceeding the $150,000 guarantee.

The official turnout and prizepool are being finalized by the tournament staff, and they’ll be posted as soon as they’re available.

Asher Conniff raised to 8,500 in early position, Barry Gallaher called in position, and Bradley Young defended his big blind to create three-way action.
