Level 12: Blinds 800/1,600/200 ante

A couple of new big stacks have emerged in the field.

Richard Newton (West Palm Beach, FL) said “I was up to 240 a little while ago”.  He was still the chip leader as of our chat, sitting behind ~180k.

When I inquired how he amassed that stack, he replied with one word: “Skill”.

One row over, David Hass (Del Ray, FL) was sitting on 165k.  David is a Commercial Real Estate Developer, so this is a walk in the park for him.  “It can be stressful” he said, referring to his ‘day job’.

Level 11: Blinds 600/1,200/200 ante

Before the blinds went up, Terri Anne Crawford had a short-stack just where she wanted him.

On a flop of , the shortie was all-in holding pocket Tens.  Terri had for top two pair and looked like she was taking the pot, since he only had two outs and a back-door straight draw.

Then the hit the turn, giving the shortie a set, and when the came on the river, a double-up.

Terri was left short-stacked, so she’s getting the

Level 10: Blinds 500/1,000/100 ante

Vitor Coelho (Tampa, FL) has made his presence known in a big way.  This is his first entry in Event 1 and he began at the start of level 5 with 20k.

Now fewer than six levels later, he’s up to ~125k, more than six times the starting stack.  Vitor has three cashes earlier this year, including one final table, at events here at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, so he’s poised to break out with a big score.

His lifetime tournament earnings are in the neighborhood of $690,000.

Michael Johnson (N Miami, FL) fired his first bullet in Flight B yesterday.  He’s now back in Flight D, after firing 8 times!

“I was having fun,” Michael says.  He’s turned this $350 Deep Stack into a $2,800 Deep Stack.  “That’s over now” he says.  No more fun, just series poker.  He’s more than tripled his starting stack to over 60k as of the first break and is settling in.  “Now it’s about making it to Day 2,” he says.

Michael is a regular here and a semi-professional player.
