James Baune moved all in from middle position for 14,400, and the player in the big blind called with JsJd. Baune said his hand was called “the parking lot” as turned over AcQs, and he needed to improve to stay alive.

The board came Ah9c7d10d7c, and Baune paired his ace on the flop to win the pot and double up in chips.

There’s an amazing story behind Baune’s entry into the poker world, as he was in a life-threatening car accident in June, 2016, and it was six months before he was even able to stand again.

That’s when he found poker.

With minimal movement in his hands but a stylus to help him navigate, Baune started using an iPad to play online poker. (Not for real money, but just for something to do to keep his mind occupied.) After more than two years of recovery, Baune played his first live poker tournament in July 2018, final tabling his first event at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa to finish fourth for $1,200. In the past nine months, Baune has scored six cashes here at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, including three final tables.
