Dantonio Brown takes the overall chip lead into Day 2

Another 495 entries came out for Day 1B of the $5,250 SHRPO Championship event and Dantonio Brown finished the day leading the 168 players that survived the day’s 10 levels.

Brown bagged up 489,500 to lead the pack, giving him not only the Day 1B lead, but also the overall lead heading into Day 2.

With 142 players surviving the Friday’s first starting flight, there will be 310 players returning for Day 2.

Scott Vener held the chip lead for most of Day 1B, but Brown overtook him near the end of the day. Vener finished with 450,000 and will start Day 2 second in chips. Nick Pupillo finished Day 1A with the chip lead and 445,500 and will start Day 2 third in chips.

The 495 entries on Day 1B brought the total field size to 914 entries and a prize pool of $4,432,900, which shattered the $3 million guaranteed prize pool.

The top 115 spots will get paid out with a min-cash worth $7,758 and the eventual winner walking away with $771,444. The top eight spots will all earn a six-figure payouts. Click here for a look at the complete payouts and prize pool.

The field drew many of poker’s elite, all hoping to get a piece of the more than $4 million prize pool. Phil Hui, Joe Cheong, John Andress, Faraz Jaka, Sam Soverel, Daniel Strelitz, Matt Stout, Jeff Madsen, Bryn Kenney, Jake Schindler, David Paredes and Danny Fuhs are among the many notables still alive.

Not everybody was able to keep Lady Luck on their side for the entire day. Chino Rheem, Tom Marchese, Ankush Mandavia, Eric Afriat and Scott Blumstein were among some of the best players that failed to make it to Day 2.

When players return on Sunday at noon, they will play another 10, 60-minute levels before bagging up for Day 3 on Monday. Blinds will start at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante.
