Mazen Abdallah

With another 10 levels in the books, both starting days are complete for the $3,500 WPT RRPO Championship. The second flight drew another 481 entries, bringing the total field size to 898. At the end of the day, the 481 was trimmed down to just 184 with Mazen Abdallah holding a commanding lead.

Abdallah finished with a massive stack of 469,500, which moves him ahead of Ajay Gnanasambanthan, who finished Day 1A with 364,500. Gnanasambanthan will start Day 2 second in chips.

Caufman Talley (265,000), Vinny Pahuja (263,500), Nick Yunis (261,000) and Nagui Yassa (258,500) round out the top five Day 1B stacks.

Other notables to finish the second starting flight with a ton of chips include Jeff Trudeau (250,500), Neil Blumenfield (244,000), Farid Jattin (237,000), Raminder Singh (233,500), Lily Kiletto (231,000), Athanasios Polychronopoulos (200,500), Paul Balzano (175,000), Nick Schwarmann (168,500), James Gilbert (164,500), Leif Force (156,000) and Tony Tran (153,500).

Not everybody was lucky enough to make it through the day with plenty of top talented pros falling before the day’s final hand. Ronnie Bardah, Scott Baumstein, James Salmon, Jacquelyn Scott, Francis Margaglione, Wally Maddah, Allen Kessler and Jared Jaffee were among today’s notable eliminations.

Between the 184 players that made it through Saturday’s action and the 149 players that survived Friday, there will be 333 players coming back on Sunday for Day 2. Cards will get back in the air at noon and they will play 10 more, 60-minute levels.
