Diana Shirey returns for Day 2 with the chip lead

The two starting flights are complete and all survivors return today for Day 2 of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship. The spotlight event of The Big 4 drew 887 entries with 224 players returning for some action today. They pushed the $3 million guaranteed prize pool up to $4.3 million with more than $750,000 set aside for the next SHRPO champ.

Maryland’s Diana Shirey will begin the day with the Championship chip lead and she had a good time getting there. She’s followed by Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Chance Kornuth in second with WSOP bracelet winner David Diaz, WPT SHRP Showdown final table member Shawn Nguyen, and two-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Andy Philachak rounding out the top five.

Besides Kornuth, Team SHRP is also represented by Michael Laake, Darryll Fish, and Jessica Dawley. We also have WSOP three Main Event champs coming back with Ryan Riess and Scotty Nguyen joined by reigning champ Scott Blumstein.

The schedule is to play another ten hour-long levels today, with a break every two hours, and those with chips at the end of Level 20 will return tomorrow for Day 3. They will make down to the money later today, likely near the dinner break, when only 111 players remain.

Cards go back in the air at noon and we will track them all the way down.
