Championship Day 2: Roman Valerstein Rivers Two Pair

SHRPO $5 Million GTD Championship
Level 12: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Players Remaining: 207 of 847

Adam Friedman raised from the cutoff to 5,500, the player on the button called, and Roman Valerstein called from the big blind. The flop came 9d8h4c, Valerstein checked, and Friedman bet 6,000. The button folded, and Valerstein called.

The turn card was the 5s, and both players checked.

The river card was the 10c, and Valerstein tanked for a while before betting 17,500. Friedman quickly called, and Valerstein turned over 10h9s to win the pot with a rivered two pair, tens and nines. Friedman looks frustrated as he mucked, implying that he may have been ahead until the river.

After the hand, the player on the button said to Friedman, “If you don’t bet there, I take all the money. I told this guy [next][to][me] I had pocket fives before it came out.”
