Championship: Saurabhkumar Patel Doubles Up Shortly Before the Money Bubble

$5,300 SHRPO Championship
Prize Pool:  $3,262,704  |  Structure  |  Payouts
Level 16:  4,000/8,000 with an 8,000 ante
Players Remaining:  88 of 673

After a flop of Kd6s2s, action checked to Jeremy Wien on the button, and he bet 23,000. The player in the small blind raised to 82,000, and Saurabhkumar Patel moved all in from the big blind for about 275,000.

Wien tanked for a while before he folded (later saying he folded pocket aces), and the small blind called all in for about 275,000 with Kh6h for top two pair. Patel turned over As7s for a spade flush draw, and whoever lost this pot would either be eliminated or down to scraps.

The turn card was the 10d, and the river card was the 10s. Patel rivered a spade flush to win the pot, and when the chip stacks were counted down, the small blind covered Patel by a single 1K chip, giving Patel a full double-up.

Saurabhkumar Patel  –  650,000  (81 bb)

With 88 players remaining from a field of 673, the average chip stack is around 382,000 (48 big blinds). The final 85 players will finish in the money, with a min-cash worth $9,700.

There will be a 90-minute dinner break after this level (around 7:05 pm), and action will continue tonight until the end of Level 20 (around 12:50 am).
