(Hollywood, FL) — David DiBernardi became the second champion of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Sunday night in Hollywood, Florida. The 24-year-old Youngstown, Ohio resident defeated a field of 204 entries in Event 3, a $300 Deep Stack Turbo tournament, winning $12,797 along with a freeroll seat.

The event lived up to its name, narrowing from over 200 starters to just one remaining over the course of about nine hours. The bubble burst following a double elimination with 27 players left. Lawrence Klur went home 27th and Anton Serkov went home 26th earning $194 and $195 respectively. Those following them to the rail included Jordan Meltzer (24th, $481), Daniel Silva (22nd, $481) and Matthew Zarcadoolas (17th, $780).

By the time play narrowed to the 10-handed final table, the average stack was hovering around 10 big blinds. David Bradshaw, who burst onto the Seminole scene late in 2016 winning the Winter Poker Open Championship in Tampa for more than $150,000, lead the way and headlined the action. Play sped along and the field leveled as the blinds continued to grow. Dror Hazaz busted 10th, Joe Verrastro ninth, Eric Piderit eighth and Jeremy Goureau seventh. With a big blind of 80,000, Bradshaw got his last 140,000 in the pot preflop and came up second best. He busted sixth and was followed to the rail by Roberto Berrocal, David Shmuel and Manuel Amaro.

It was Michael Lemanski who dueled DiBernardi heads up. Lemanski owned the advantage to start, but DiBernardi picked up aces and doubled after Lemanski flopped a lower pair. From there, DiBernardi outdrew Lemanski’s ace-king holding ace-six on a 7-6-6- flop. The fateful hand ended the event and saw Lemanski earn $8,881 for his runner-up finish.

DiBernardi’s victory and five-figure score translated into hourly earnings of just over $1,420. The win marked his second major Seminole title complementing his first which came during the 2016 Coco Poker Open in Coconut Creek.
