Dennis Sierra rides hot streak to win Event 16

The bulk of Event 16 moved along faster than expected but things naturally slowed down as the money bubble approached. Dennis Sierra came to the final table with the shortest stack in the field and turned down an opportunity to immediately chop up the prizepool.

He picked up big hand after big hand until he was heads up with Jean LeBlond for the title. The two went on a quick 10-minute break after Daniel Drew’s elimination and it took exactly one hand after they returned to settle the matter.

Sierra open shoved from the button with As2s and LeBlond quickly called behind with Th8h. Live cards had been hitting throughout the final table but this time was different. The first, and only, board of heads up play ran out QcJc5dAc3h and Sierra’s turned pair of Aces was good enough. LeBlond had a roller coaster day from start to finish and ended his day as the runner-up for $4,400.

Sierra’s decision to not make a deal when he was the short stack turned out to be a good call as he is the latest Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” champion for $8,400.
