Chris Laieta opened to 250,000 under the gun, and the player next to act called. Devon Shalmi three-bet shoved for just over 2,000,000 total in position, and Michael Johnson called from the small blind. Laieta called all in too, putting himself at risk for his last 1,365,000.

Laieta: KdKh
Shalmi: As9c
Johnson: 9s9d

The AdJs4c flop gave Shalmi a big lead with a pair of aces, though the Qs on the turn gave Laieta a few extra catch-up outs with a Broadway draw. The river was the Ks, and Laieta let out a loud celebration at the sight of his winning set of kings. He tripled up, crippling Shalmi and taking a big dent out of Johnson in the process.

“That’s the first time I’ve celebrated at the poker table,” Laieta said apologetically, collecting his newfound big stack on the final hand of Day 2.

Chris Laieta – 4,645,000 (39 bb)
Michael Johnson – 3,230,000 (27 bb)
Devon Shalmi – 760,000 (6 bb)
