Francisco Torres
Francisco Torres

Francisco Torres raised big under the gun to about 11,000, and the UTG+1 player moved all in for a little more than 30,000. A third player in middle position moved all in over the top, covering both players, and Torres called all in with the shortest stack.

These were their cards in descending order of chip counts:

Middle Position:  KsKd
UTG+1 Player:  8s8c
Francisco Torres:  JsJc

The board came Jd6c5c3dJh, and Torres flopped a set of jacks and rivered quads to win the main pot and triple up to about 70,000 in chips. Torres celebrated so loudly that the entire room heard about his quad jacks.

Meanwhile, the middle-position player won the much smaller side pot with his pocket kings to eliminate the UTG+1 player.

Torres told us that he’s been on a run of quads, winning an all-in earlier today when his pocket queens made quads against ace-king, and yesterday in the poker room, he won a high-hand bonus with quad kings.

Francisco Torres  –  70,000  (28 bb)

With about 230 players remaining from a flight of 1,154, the average chip stack is about 100,500 (40 big blinds).

This flight will continue playing tonight until only 10% of the field remains (116 players), and everyone who bags chips will advance to Day 2 on Sunday and finish in the money.
