Nissin Vaknin

With the board reading 8h7s6h, we walked up to a table that was in the midst of a massive four-way pot. Three of the players were all in with Nissin Vaknin holding the biggest stack followed by Spencer Champlin, Brian Appell, and Richard Devivo. All the chips went and it was a wide array of hands.

DeVivo: KhQh (flush draw)
Champlin: 7h7d (middle set)
Vaknin: 9c9d (overpair and open-ended straight draw)
Appell: AsAd (rockets)

Champlin was ahead with his set and a coin flip against the other three players in the hand. He had a lot of outs to dodge and it was Vaknin taking the lead on the Ts turn for his straight.

Champlin and DeVivo still had river outs to win the pot (and there was a single chop out, the 9s) but Vaknin held on the 5s river to send three tough players out and move up to 760,000.

“Scoop!” Vaknin yelled as he celebrated.
