The remaining 100 or so Event 1 players are on a 15-minute recess. With the field shrinking around him, Erik Cajalais — who owns more than $3,300,000 in reported tournament earnings — is one of the most notable players still in. The last hand before break was rough on him, though. He had an opponent’s last 76,000 at risk preflop holding AcQs to the opponent’s KhQh. Cajelais had the opponent covered, but just barely. A king-high flop left him second best and Cajelais never improved. He shipped 76,000 across the table and was left with just 16,000. That’s good for two big blinds when cards go back in the air in about 10 minutes.
