The live updates team has a general rule about focusing on players, not on staff. But today is a special day deserving of a minor breaking of the rules.

Anyone who has played a big poker tournament in the Seminole Hard Rock ballroom will know Jose. He is the man running around non-stop during the tournaments to deliver refreshments to the players and the occasional food order.

Most don’t know him as Jose though, he’s more commonly known by his near-constant broadcast of “Soda, Botta Watta!” has he walks around with a packed tray and a big smile. Sometimes you get a bonus “Soda, Botta, Watta, Coffee!” blast.

The tournament staff just announced to the 1C flight that today is his birthday and the entire room gave him a very nice ovation.
