Event 1: Teitelbaum Defeats Newman to Win Title

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 36: 250,000/500,000/50,000 ante

It was a quick heads up battle despite the relatively even stacks. Stewart Newman pulled into the lead early in the match, picking up most of the early pots, but it didn’t last long.

The first hit to Newman happened without a flop. The two went to war pre-flop when Teitelbaum opened to 1,100,000 and Newman three-bet to 3,500,000. After a bit of consideration, Teitelbuam put out a fourth bet for 7,500,000. Newman let his hand go along with his lead.

Newman never grabbed the momentum back dropped further behind until they were both quick into the pot. It was a limp shove from Teitelbaum and Newman was at risk with AhQd against 6d6h. The Th8c2d flop changed little but Newman added a gutshot draw after the Js turn.

The river was a blank 2c to end the heads up match to leave Newman as the runner-up for $113,000. Teitelbaum was speechless after the hand before he moved to the desk to sign for his $174,010 first place title money.
