Day 1 is complete in the $2,650 freeze-out event, the third of the Big 4 events on the docket. Cards went in the air at 2 p.m. this afternoon, and by the time registration closed, a field of 395 entries had gathered.

That turnout generated a slight overlay on the $1 million guarantee. The final 52 players will share that prize pool, with $204,600 of it reserved for the winner.

The field pushed through 14 levels of action before bagging up with 70 survivors around 1:30 a.m.

Nigel Murray leads the way with 341,000 chips. Murray won Event 2 here last week, and he’s made a few deep runs in the interim, too. He’ll be the man setting the pace when Day 2 begins.

Birthday boy Jason Koon finished near the top with 220,500, as did Aaron Massey (221,000) and Jackie Scott (228,500). Seminole Hard Rock Poker Team members Faraz Jaka also advanced to Day 2 with 178,500 chips.

They and the rest of the survivors will return to action Monday to play down to a final table of nine. Cards go in the air at 12 p.m.
