Shortly before the dinner break, with the board showing on the turn with more than 75,000 in the pot, Neil Zonenashvili moved all in from the small blind for 81,500, and his opponent in the hijack went into the tank.
While he waited, Zonenashvili let out a loud wail, with sort of an “Aaaaaaahhh” sound like you might hear at a haunted house. It attracted the attention of a floorperson, and when he wailed again, the floorperson said, “English only at the table.”
Eventually, another player at the table called for a clock, and when the 30-second countdown reached zero, the hijack’s hand was declared dead.
Zonenashvili showed for an overpair as he took the pot.
“I had queens,” said the player in the hijack.
Zonenashvili responded, “I know you had queens!”
Neil Zonenashvili – 179,500 (90 bb)
With about 72 players remaining from a field of 392, the average chip stack is about 109,000 (55 big blinds). The final 66 players will finish in the money, guaranteed at least $785 each.
