A player raised under the gun, Mike Dentale called from the hijack, the player in the cutoff called, and the small blind called.

Justin Zaki moved all in from the big blind for about 6,000, and the original raiser folded.

Mike Dentale moved all in over the top for about 45,000, and he later said that he expected that to be an isolation raise to get heads-up against Zaki. But the cutoff called all in for about 35,000, and the small blind called all in for about 30,000.

Four players were now all in preflop, and these were their cards, in descending order of chip counts:

Mike Dentale:  Qs8s
Cutoff:  AsJd
Small Blind:  KsKd
Justin Zaki:  Qd10s

Dentale later said that as soon as he got one caller, he thought he was in trouble, and with two callers he thought he was dead. He certainly didn’t expect the player in the small blind to flat-call his way into what looked to be a four- or five-way pot with pocket kings.

But the flop came 7s6s5h to give Dentale a lot of outs with an open-ended straight draw and a spade flush draw.

The turn card was — the 4s.

Dentale caught both draws on the same card, but of course his spade flush outranked his eight-high straight. Dentale still had to avoid a spade on the river, or else the small blind’s Ks would make a higher flush.

The river card was the Jh, and Dentale came from behind to win a four-way pot, eliminating three players on one hand and catapult to 121,100 in chips.
