When the final seven players combined to form the final table, Dominik Papa had the chip lead. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t hold on to it.

A short while ago, Al Gomez was all in under the gun for 58,000 with , and he needed to improve to stay alive against Papa’s on the button.

The board came , and Gomez rivered an ace-high straight to win the pot and double up in chips.

A few minutes later, Gomez raised from the cutoff to 14,000, Dwight Barclay called from the button, and Papa moved all in from the big blind for 32,000. Both players called.

Gomez and Barclay checked all the way down on a board of . Barclay showed to play the two pair on the board with his ace as a kicker. Gomez mucked, and Papa apparently couldn’t beat it, mucking his own cards as he was eliminated in sixth place.
