ICYMI: Day 2 with Big Crowds; David Albertson Wins Seniors Title

It was busy on Friday and the Event Center was packed all day long. Event 1 ran nearly 900 entries through its second two flights and the Seniors Event drew one of the biggest crowds in that tournament’s history.

Flights C and D combined to push the Event 1 entry count up to 1,522 and put the tournament on the cusp of making its $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. They cruised through both flights and Brian England took the overall chip leader in the early morning hours.

His 368,000 barely outchipped Kyle Carino’s 362,000 and all the counts are tight at the top of the table. The nine biggest stacks are over 300,000 and another handful are not that far off.

We had 126 more players punch their ticket for Day 2 ono Sunday to push the total to 210 and a lot more are set to join them from the Saturday sessions. You can find the top ten list below with a link to the full up to date chip counts.

Top ten stacks (so far):

  1. Brian England – 368,000
  2. Kyle Carino – 362,000

Neil Blumenfield

The Seniors Event awarded the second trophy of the series and the tournament drew huge. The 160 entries were the biggest Senior Event since last year’s Showdown tournament which featured a smaller buy-in.

They quickly played down and were on the money bubble when they took a dinner break only six hours after the start of the tournament. Action slowed at the final table as the big money approached but soon it was David Albertson up against former November Niner Neil Blumenfield for the title.

Despite beginning heads up play with a 3-to-1 chip lead, Blumenfield fell short of capturing his first SHRP win and settled for second place. That top honor went to Alberton and he took home his first trophy along with $12,900 plus a custom-framed winner’s photo courtesy of IMPDI.
