Poker in the Seminole Ballroom

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood underwent its massive expansion and we hope our players will enjoy all the new options available to them.

With the exception of the 9 am satellites, our poker tournaments continue to play out in the Seminole Ballroom which can be located in the same area that was previously occupied by the Event Center. Registration desk are now available inside the Seminole Ballroom for quick access to them and the poker tables.

We put a $25,000 guarantee on the Limit Omaha 8 tournament this series and that number was easily matched. The prize pool was over the mark before the first break and it now sits at $27,200 with late registration available until 4:30pm.

More than a few familiar faces are back in the Seminole Ballroom, helping us start the new year on a big note.

Nancy Thomas and Al Gomez shared a happy moment sitting next to each other, both with success in our events. Other recent arrivals include two-time WPT Champion Sam Panzica and SHRP favorite Sheddy Siddiqui.

The WPTDeepStacks field continues to grow this afternoon and the entry count is nearing 300 for a great start to the series. With late registration available until 6:30 pm and two more flights to go, the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool should easily be matched.

Women in Poker Hall of Famer Kathy Liebert is in today’s field and one of the most accomplished in action. Liebert, with legitimate credentials to be in the full Poker Hall of Fame, has more than $6 million in career earnings that include an open WSOP bracelet ($1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout) and six WPT final tables with two runner-ups and three third-place finishes.

WPTDeepStacks players returned from their break with more than 250 entries so far with late registration available until 6:30 pm.

SHRP regular Greg Barba was the break time leader with 75,000 with Jonathan Shapiro (74,000), Hector Pacheco (72,000), and David Katz (71,400) not far behind.

The third level of the day rolled around and the field is one away from hitting 200 before the first break. There’s still plenty of time to make your way to the Seminole Ballroom to take part in the $1,000,000 guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Hollywood opening event.

One of those players is our returning champion. Jason Young captured the first major SHRP title of 2019 and a $263,205 payday for winning the WPTDeepStacks Hollywood Main Event. That title pushed him to win the SHRP Player of the Year title and he still leads the WPTDeepStack Player of the Year race for their current season.

Event 2: Omaha Time

Not everyone will be sitting in the big WPTDeepStacks field, we will also have a Limit Omaha 8 game for those who like their poker with four cards and split pots.

Event 2 has a $400 buy-in with a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool. They will sit down to 12,000 starting stacks and levels last 30 minutes from start to finish. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm with a dinner break at 6 pm.

They will continue from there and won’t stop until we award our first LHPO trophy of the series.

The tournament tables are filling in and more players are joining the big opening LHPO event with 159 here so far.

One of the seats is occupied by a former WPTDeepStacks Hollywood champion. The last time we bookended LHPO with a WPTDeepStacks and WPT tournament, Scott Baumstein captured the first big trophy of the series. He earned $220,238 for conquering the 1,366-entry field and that title also earned him the WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year award.
