The second break came to an end and the last of the last-minute players took their seats including two-time SHRP Omaha champ Peter Walsworth.

The final total shows 123 players joined to create the second-biggest Limit Omaha 8 tournament in any of our majors. The only one to top it ran a decade ago during the 2011 Poker Showdown and it had a $230 buy-in with re-entries.

Cheers to our Omaha gang.

It looks like Flight A players will have plenty of time to build a Day 2 stack. With 128 players remaining, the stacks are still very deep with the average at 78,000 and 65 big blinds.

They’ll need to make the last 50 to advance to Day 2 and that is still a good ways off in the distance.

Event 2 is bringing out the Omaha players in a big way. As they head on their first break, The 109 players in the freeze-out easily surpassed the 88 from this time last year. We will have to take a deep dive into the history books to see how it rates all time.

A few of the familiar faces in the field include Daniel Pearlman, Ian Feller, Steve Flacco, and five-time SHRP champ Gabriel Ramos.

Event 1 Flight A: Two Youngs Grinding

Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries: 356

Max Young

The entry count continued its climb over the last level and the 356 so far has the prize pool more than halfway towards its $300,000 guarantee. With five more full flights to go, plus another 90 minutes in Flight A to enter, we are going to have a pretty big number in the end.

We found two successful Youngs in the field this afternoon. Six-time WSOP Circuit champ Max Young joined the Tampa Winter Poker Open Main Event in December and added another title to his résumé with a win for $226,510.

Jason Young is a regular in our Poker Room and a former Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year. His crowning moment during his run that year came was a live-streamed WPTDeepStacks Hollywood Main Event win in 2019 for $263K. Young’s biggest win came in 2008 when he captured the $1,500 NLH Shootout WSOP bracelet for some nice jewelry.

Rick Kalgstein

The staggered break is over and the field is back together at the start of Level 5 with 333 entries. We are getting an updated number on the unique count as it nears.

The new break format made it a little more interesting to find chip leaders with a fluid movement of chips at all times. It looks like Rick Kalgstein has the biggest stack at the moment with 73,000 but things could change quickly.
