Robert Mantin

To protect our players, the Flight A players are being sent on a staggered break schedule to limit the number of people outside of the tournament area at one time.

A third of the field was given their break before the end of Level 4 and returned while another third grabbed some fresh air. The last third has the normally scheduled 15 minutes and the entire field will hit Level 5 at the same time.

Robert Mantin is among the last group and another of our Poker Room regulars. He booked a nice $163K score a few years ago with a tenth place finish in the 2018 WPT Five Diamond $10K Main Event.

Event 2: First Four-Card Game

$400 Limit Omaha 8 (Freeze-Out)
Structure
Level 1: 50/100 Limits

Chips and Cards

South Florida players love their non-Hold’em games and the first LHPO trophy will go to one of them. Event 2 is a $400 Limit Omaha 8 game that will play out later this evening and it will take some skills to get there.

They’ll start with 12,000 stacks and all levels will last 30 minutes long. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30pm but the Freeze-Out format will mean players only have one bullet to fire. There will be a 40-minute dinner break at 6pm and they will return to play down to our first LHPO champion.

Cards will go in the air at noon and we will keep an eye on them as they make their way through the day.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration until start of Level 9 (4:30pm)
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion

Thomas Gari

The entry count is nearing 300 at the end of Level 3 and it looks like Flight A will hit the 400 unique player limit before registration closes. We will keep everyone up to date on the exact number as we creep towards it.

Thomas Gari didn’t have to stress about getting in. The Poker Room regular was here on time and grinding a stack in the back of the room. Gari is the eldest member of the field at a spritely 93 years young. He has a ton of results to his credit including a big Poker Showdown final table in 2017 and Gari made history during the 2019 WSOP Big 50 tournament as the oldest participant.

Flight A continued to build up over the first two levels of the day and they are up to 265 after nearly an hour of action. A great start to the series and it’s not even noon yet.

Raminder Singh is one of our regulars back in action, not long after a successful trip across the state. He went to our sister room in Tampa for their Winter Poker Open and cashed three times in eight tournaments including a win in the $600 NLH event. In local news, he made the final table of the Fun in the Sun Main Event for a seventh place finish.
