The first day of the LHPO series ran out three new tournaments and the third gets underway at 4 pm with a smaller buy-in and healthy prize pool. The $150 Big Stack No Limit Hold’em tournament has a $20,000 guarantee with a one-day format that will award a trophy later this evening.

We will hit the highlights along the way and hit them up as they approach the final table.

Event 1 Flight A: More for Scott Levitt

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10:  600/1,200 with a 1,200 ante
Flight A Players Remaining:  261 of 655

Scott Levitt

We mentioned Jake Ferro earlier and his run during the WPT RRPO Championship and we found another local who also had a deep finish. Hollywood regular Scott Levitt was among the top stacks for the latter parts of the tournament but a run of bad luck saw him settle for a 13th place finish for $48,900.

Not where he wanted but making the last two tables of a WPT event is always a great result.

The math is complete and Flight A of LHPO Event 1 drew 655 entries for a fantastic start to the series. They put more than $340,000 towards the $1,000,000 guarantee with five more flights to go.

Flight A will continue playing down into the evening until 82 players remain. Those players will bag up their chips and return for Day 2 at 1 pm in the money.

Event 1 Flight A: Ferro’s Return

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Flight A Entries:  639

Jake Ferro

We found Jake Ferro taking part in the first tournament of the series and he had a big run in the last tournament in the ballroom. The WPT RRPO Championship drew 1,566 entries and Ferro outlasted all but Gediminas Uselis. He finished second for $573K, a pretty decent consolation prize, and that result helped push him to become the new WPT Player of the Year.

Event 2: Big Field

$400 Limit Omaha 8 (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 3:  250/500 Limits
Entries:  105

Brian Gelrod (left) and Phil Hui (right)

Event 2 has itself a nice field already with more than 100 entries in the Limit Omaha 8 tournament as they moved into Level 3. They will put this field in our top five all-time with no problem and they are giving chase to make it the biggest. 160 will get them there and that number is in play.

Some notables in the field include SHRP old school O8 player Brian Gelrod, four-time Hollywood champ Phil Hui, and RRPO Black Chip Bounty champ Dean Salisbury.

Event 1 Flight A: Miles Hoping to Stay Hot

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6:  300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries:  552

T.K. Miles

Flight A hit 500 entries after the break and taking a fast cruise towards 600 with minimal effort. We are looking at a huge start to the tournament and series.

T.K. Miles is heading into 2022 hoping to continue his heater from the end of 2021. After seven cashes during this WSOP in November, he went to our sister room in Tampa for their Winter Poker Open and shipped the Main Event for more than $200K.

Event 1 Flight A: Back Underway

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight A Entries:  509

Jeff Silverstein

Action is back underway after the break and they added enough during that time to push the Flight A entry total over 500. And they still have more than two hours to run it up.

Jeff Silverstein is back in the ballroom a few months from a big opening event run during the RRPO series. That tournament drew 6,196 entries for the biggest tournament field in state history and Silverstein outlasted most of them to finish in 13th place.

Event 2: First Trophy

$400 Limit Omaha 8 (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1:  150/300 Limits

While the $600 Deep Stack tournament is first on the LHPO schedule, Event 2 will hand out the first trophy. It is a $400 Limit Omaha 8 tournament with a one-day format that will have a champion before the end of the night.

Players start with 12,000 stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm. They will have a 40-minute dinner break at 6 pm and return to play down to the Event 2 champion.

Michael Newman

We closed out 2021 with our traditional Fun in the Sun series over the last few days of the year. Five tournaments with a lot of chips and a ton of money.

Turns out we had five really familiar faces take home trophies and three of them are here in early action.

Michael Newman won the opening $400 Deep Stack tournament, Marty Robbins finished off the series with a win in the $250 Holiday Deep Stack, and former SHRP Player of the Year Ory Hen took the Main Event title in between. Ducarmel Beaubien and Alcides Gomez rounded out the list of winners and we expect to see them early in this series.
