The entrant count quickly jumped to 250 before the clock in the noon hour guaranteeing this will be the biggest flight of Event 1 as expected.

A few more locals have jumped into the action including TJ Shulman, Julian Gardner, Glenn Cressman, and Paula Barros. There’s still plenty of time for players to get to the ballroom for their shot plus the final, and likely bigger, flight at 6pm.

Event 1 has reached the final day and it should be a big one. Players have just two more flights to get in the game for a shot at the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The first four flights enticed 972 entrants to put down the $570 buy-in and more will do the same today. During that time, 216 players were able to survive their flight and bag chips for their return tomorrow at 1pm.

Everyone starts with 25,000 stacks and will play 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and re-entry is available until the start of Level 9, approximately 3:30 this afternoon, and play will come to an end at the end of Level 14.

Cards will be in the air within minutes.

Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 ante

Day 1D is in the books and a late run by Daniel Pearlman makes him the top stack for the evening.  Pearlman exploded over the last two levels to finish with 334,000.

John Magnetta rolled to a stack of 261,500 and Marc Duqutte was the only other player on Day 1D to crack the 200k barrier bagging 219,000.  Dustin Murphy came close at 197,500 followed by George Griffith at 185,000 and Kurt Lawson at 184,000.

Overall, 56 players survived Day 1D out of 244 entries.  The tournament is now up to a total of 972 entries with 227 players already into Day 2.

Day 1E kicks off tomorrow at 11 AM and Day 1 play concludes with Day 1F at 6 PM.

Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 ante

The players have reached the final level with 72 players still alive.  The chip lead for the Day 1D is very tight among many players.  One to watch is Derrick Simon who has made a strong run to finish the night.  We’ll have the chip leaders for the Day 1D at the conclusion of play.

Eliminations continue at a brisk pace as Day 1D is now under 100 players remaining.  We’re halfway through Level 12 and close to the players’ final break of the night.  The players will step away for 15 mintues and dealers will be counting up the chips as we close in on the end of play for the evening.

We all know the love Billy Pappas has for Yoshi with his hats and card protector.  But Yoshi may have met his match this time.

Across the table, Otis James of Miami may have brought one of the few characters that could take everyone’s favorite green dinosaur out of commission.
