Meet Our Players; Tamra Piderit

Tamra Piderit knows what it’s like to sit patiently for long periods of time. She is also pretty good at being observant – but not all at the poker table. When not playing cards at the Seminole Hard Rock, Piderit works as a court reporter – pounding away at the keyboard in federal courtrooms as well as in other proceedings such as depositions and arbitrations.

After working in the courtroom for 27 years, Piderit’s seen some interesting cases and characters.

“I was in federal court for a while, so I’ve seen everything – drugs, sex trafficking, and more,” she says. “I’ve pretty much heard it all except for murder. It’s different every day, and you meet a lot of people.”

A native of Weston, Florida, she and her husband Eric are regulars at the Seminole and started playing after learning from him.

“He’s retired, so he plays a lot,” she says.

Both were playing in the $400 Black Chip Bounty on Sunday. Piderit would have liked to play in the WPT Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open Championship but knows she wouldn’t have been able to play if she made it past Day 3 as she’ll be back at work. A nice run and collection of bounties would certainly be something to remember.
