Event 7 of the 2021 Lucky Hearts Poker Open was the $400 Seniors 50+ NLH (Single Re-Entry ). A total of 221 entries generated a prize pool of $74,035, with the first-place prize set at $16,955. Mitchell Mantin began the final table fourth in chips and it was he who emerged victoriously, winning the tournament outright.

The 59-year-old Mantin resides in Baltimore and has been playing poker for 20 years. He considers himself a student of the game and this win puts him above $630,000 in tournament winings according to the Hendon Mob.

“I’ve probably read 50 poker books,” Mantin said afterward. “I’ve taken seminars and talk about hands with other friends that play all the time. I play with my 88-year-old Dad (Robert Mantin) who just came in 23rd in Event 1 and took 10th at the WPT at Bellagio in 2018. It’s truly is not about the money for us, we just love the game. The more I learn the more I realize how much I don’t know yet and it’s just always a thrill.”

Mantin was especially complimentary of the Seminole Hard Rock for the effort made to offer a major series with player safety at the forefront.

“The Hard Rock throws fantastic tournaments. I was actually surprised that they were willing and able to do all these plexiglass tables together in the ballroom and be able to do such a large series, because everybody’s got so much pent up energy to play. They’ve done a great job.”
