Event 2: Four-Card Trophy

$360 Omaha 8 or Better (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1: 100/200 Limits

The $1,000,000 Guarantee opening event isn’t the only game in town this afternoon. We are also running a one-day tournament of the four-card variety that will award the first trophy of the series.

Event 2 is a $360 Omaha/8 tournament that starts at noon and will attract a talented group of players.

Players start out with 10,000 stacks and the tournament runs 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 with re-entries available during that time if their stack hits the felt. There is a dinner break schedule around 6:15pm and they will return to play it down the Omaha/8 champion.

Cards go in the air at the top of the hour and we’ll keep one eye on them until they reach the final table.

  • Players begin with 10,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion

Flight A quickly jumped over 200 entries before the first hour was complete and we’re on a great pace to start the tournament and series. The front part of the Event Center is filling as the back part prepares for the Omaha/8 tournament kicking off at noon.

We found two SHRP favorites in early action and they share a name. Nancy Birnbaum and Nancy Thomas are loyal regulars in our big games and they are firing early.

Birnbaum is a three-time WSOP Circuit ring winner and Thomas picked up her biggest cash here last January when she finished second out of 4,756 entries (second biggest tournament field in state history) in the opening event of the Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

Level 1: 100/100

The Hard Rock Event Center is set up and ready to go. Today we welcome our players back to the big room to kick off the 2018 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. One of the most exciting series we have during the year and this will be another great two weeks.

We are rolling things out big at the start with a $570 buy-in multi-day tournament, a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and six starting flights. The first one kicks off at 11am and will set the pace for the first weekend of the series.

The tournament drew more than 3,000 entries last year and we don’t see a reason why we can’t put a bigger number of this time around.

Players will sit down to 20,000 starting stacks and all Day 1 levels run for 30 minutes. This tournament will feature a “big blind ante” structure where the player in the big blind posts the ante for all others at the table.

Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and all opening flights will last 17 full levels. Those with chip at the end of the flight will bag them up for a Day 2 return on Sunday.

It’s an exciting day in the Hard Rock Event Center and we look forward to hosting our players once again.

“The Big 4” Four-Tournament Finale Carrying a Combined $6.5 Million in Guaranteed Prize Pools Will Be Televised and Live Streamed in Partnership with Poker Night in America

HOLLYWOOD, Fla – The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) will celebrate the sixth season of highly anticipated, top tournament play at South Florida’s iconic entertainment destination Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. SHRPO will kick off Thursday, Aug. 2 with the $570 Deep Stack series opener highlighting a $1 Million Guarantee.

Unique to South Florida, SHRPO is known for its one-of-a-kind finisher – The Big 4. The Big 4 is a collection of four-tournament finales that feature staggered structures, timed so the events climax alongside one another in front of a live audience. Filmed by Poker Night in America and televised on CBS Sports Network, The Big 4 will be played at the resort’s new Hard Rock Event Center on Tuesday, Aug.14. All of the synchronized poker action will be live streamed on SHRPO.com.

The resort’s new Hard Rock Event Center will serve as the primary tournament space during the 13-day series. This space first hosted poker events during April’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown when it housed nearly 80 tables and was filled to capacity during the weekend play.

Last year’s SHRPO Championship saw Martin Kozlov best 887 entries for more than $750,000. The Big 4 in 2017 boasted more than $5.8 million earned between the four final tables with the quartet of winners taking home more than $1.8 million.

On Thursday, Aug. 9, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) will once again host The Jeff Conine Celebrity Poker Classic benefitting the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation. The charity event will kick off with an exclusive VIP player party in the new Ballroom Terrace at Hard Rock Event Center from 5:30 – 7 p.m. prior to the tournament’s start time at 7 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music, cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, and a chance to win more than $30,000 in cash and prizes including a seat in the SHRPO Championship.
