Championship: Playing for the Final Table

$3,500 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” Championship
Level 23:  10,000/20,000/3,000 Ante

It’s our last day in the ballroom as the Championship plays down from two tables of 18 to the televised final table of six.

Joshua Gibson took the lead late on Day 3 but will face stiff competition if he hopes to ride his stack to that final table. He will have to content with pros Marvin Rettenmaier, Jessica Dawley, Nipun Java, Jake Bazeley, and Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Matt Stout among the remaining players.

It will be a long day with the average stack sitting at 64 big blinds with 38 minutes remaining at the 10,000/20,000/3,000 ante level. It’s still anyone’s game and they have plenty of room to make moves without feeling pressure from the blinds. Everyone is guaranteed $15,197 but looking for the $568,687 waiting up top for the winner.

Players are taking their seats, unbagging their chips, and we will be underway shortly.

Nieto bagged 367,100 chips to run away with the flight and put up the second biggest stack of the tournament so far.  Dalis Gomez was a distant second at 197,700 followed by Tim Myers at 195,000 in third.   Sonny Quach was fourth at 177,200 and Tim Frazin finished fifth with 156,700.

24 players advanced out of the 219 entries in the flight.  So far 63 players have advanced to Day 2 out 594 entries in this $100,000 guaranteed event.  Players who advanced will be back in action in the Poker Room at 1 PM on Wednesday.

Event 12 Day 1C: But Wait, There’s More

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 13: 1,000/2,000/300 Ante

Robert Nieto just put some serious distance between himself and the rest of the Day 1C field.

After eliminating an opponent, he is now sitting on 372,500 chips and threatening to take the overall chip lead away from Day 1B flight leader Alex Bergfors who bagged 378,700.

30 players remain as we head into the final level of the evening.

Event 12 Day 1C: Four Tables Left

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600/200 Ante

Players continue to drop at a steady pace in the last flight of the evening in Event 12.  The field has now shrunk to 36 players halfway through Level 12.

It brings in the possibility that the flight could end early.  The flight plays down to the end of Level 14 or 10% of the field which would be 22 players.  Day 1B ended slightly early during Level 14 and this group could be on the road to the same fate.

We’ll see where tonight’s flight finishes in around 90 minutes – or less.
