The poker room was cleared of tournament tables early in the day and the meeting room isn’t far behind. Only four tables remain in action on that side of the 14 available to leave 396 players left in the game.
A few of unfortunates include Darryll Fish, Luke Brereton, and Ricky Guan. They’ll hit the first break at 3pm and they all be in the same room heading towards the money with 300 getting paid.

Elliott Zaydman
The pace of play continued to run faster than expected and Event 1 was only 150 eliminations away after one hour. It should slow down as we approach the bubble but they are cruising along at the moment. All tournament tables have been broken in the poker room and they are working to clear the meeting room.
Three-time SHRP champ Elliott Zaydman was one of the recent knockout after he moved all in for 34,500. The problem? Action was still pending to his right and that player shoved as well. It was all straightened out and Zaydman was at risk with against .
He missed the flop but picked up some outs. The turn was a blank and he was sent out after the river.

Joshua Beckley
Action is moving right along with players busting left and right. SHRP team member Jessica Dawley was an early casualty but tablemate/teammate Darryll Fish was treading water. He made a couple early moves with his shorter stack that made it through to build him back up while others are dropping around him.
Errol Massey also tossed in a short-stacked, three-bet shove against Jon Brody and won the hand without a flop. But he would have been ok with a call, he flashed pocket aces to the table before mucking.
Nearby, Joshua Beckley added an extra 100K to his returning stack and heading north towards the top of the counts with 360,000.

After six big flights over three starting days, Event 1 of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open is joining everyone together at once. Those who completed 14 levels in their opening flight will return this afternoon to begin the process of shrinking the field closer to our first big champion.
The tournament drew a huge crowd of 3,173 entries to cruise past the $1,000,000 Guarantee as well as the count for this event last August. They combined to put more than $1.5 million up for grabs and the winner is set to earn more than $272,000 for their $570 buy-in. Of those starting entrants, 609 players remain but only 300 of them will take home some money.
Paul Kelly leads the way with 442,500 at the start of Day 2 as the only player over 400,000. He’s followed by James Smart and Prashray Rai, each finished their opening flight with 353,000.
Players will be divided between the ballroom, meeting room, and poker room at the beginning of the day but the tournament will quickly play down until everyone is in one place. They’ll make their way down near the money bubble after the first break and we should see a lot of action.
Blind levels switch to 40 minutes each and will stay that way until ten players remain. The final table will play 60-minute levels until switching back to 30 minutes during heads-up play.
Players are making their way to their seats, unbagging their chips, and they will be back underway at the top of the hour.

The chip leader came from the Day 1F flight, though the name at the top ended up being a bit of a surprise. Down the stretch, it looked like a three-horse race between James Smart, Rodney Banks, and Gediminas Kiuberis for the overnight honors, but Paul Kelly stormed into the lead right at the tape. Kelly finished with 442,500 chips, nearly 100,000 clear of his nearest challenger, Smart.
Here’s the top of the leaderboard after Day 1:
1: Paul Kelly – 442,500 T2: Prashray Rai – 353,000 T2: James Smart – 353,000 4: Fernando Halac – 348,000 T5: Jon Borenstein – 338,000 T5: Rodney Banks – 338,000 7: Gediminas Kiuberis – 328,500 8: Sheldon Gross – 326,000 9: Bruce Jorgensen – 303,000 10: Otto Palacios – 299,500
Michael Laake
The Seminole Hard Rock Poker team will be well represented on Day 2, as well. Michael Laake only needed one entry to amass a stack of 239,00 chips, good for a spot just outside the overnight top 20. Matt Affleck isn’t far behind with 213,000, followed by Sheddy Siddiqui (120,000), Loni Harwood (82,000), Darryll Fish (63,000), Stewart Newman (43,000), and Jessica Dawley (21,000).

They and the rest of the 609 survivors will return to action Sunday with the goal of playing all the way down to a winner. A top prize of $272,508 is waiting up top, along with the first trophy of this year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.
Blinds will be 1,500/3,000 with a 500 ante when play resumes, putting the average stack around 35 big blinds. Only 300 of the remaining players will finish in the money, so bursting the bubble will be the first item on the day’s to-do list.
