Event 9 Flight D: Lily Kiletto Doubles Up

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: 200/400 with a 75 Ante
Flight D Entries: 350

Lily Kiletto

Lily Kiletto was heads-up and out of position from the big blind in what appears to have been a three-bet confrontation. The flop was Td6d4d, and Kiletto bet 6,000 into a pot of just more than that. Her opponent was in the cutoff, and he called.

The turn was the 5s, and Kiletto moved all in for 11,275. Her opponent deliberated for a long while, then called to put Kiletto at risk.

Kiletto: 9d9h (pair of nines)
Opponent: AsTc (pair of tens)

Kiletto was behind, but she had the only flush draw with one card to come. It came through; the river was the Qd, and Kiletto filled her flush to double up.

Lily Kiletto – 43,000 (108 bb)

Event 9 Flight D: Scott Davies Eliminated by Francis Margaglione

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300 with a 50 Ante
Flight D Entries: 330

Five players saw a flop for 1,000 apiece, and it came 5h4h3s. Scott Davies was first to act in the small blind, and he moved all in for about 4,000. The next three players folded, but Francis Margaglione called as the last to act, putting Davies at risk.

Davies: 9hTh (flush draw)
Margaglione: 6h7d (straight)

Davies needed to find a heart to stay alive, but he could not. The Kd turn and Qs river completed the board safely for Margaglione, and he won the knockout pot with his flopped straight.

Francis Margaglione – 66,000 (220 bb)
Scott Davies – Eliminated

Event 9 Flight D: Derrick Cutler Takes From Chino Rheem

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300 with a 50 Ante
Flight D Entries: 311

Chino Rheem opened to 800 in middle position, Derrick Cutler called on the button, and the big blind defended to create three-way action.

The flop was Ac7s4c. The big blind checked, Rheem continued for 1,200, Cutler called, and the big blind folded. Heads-up now, the turn was the 6h. Rheem checked, then called a bet of 2,800 from Cutler. The river was the 7c, and Rheem led out for 10,000. Cutler had just over 15,000 chips left in front of him, and he called to see a showdown.

Rheem tabled 9c7d for trip sevens, but Cutler showed 3d5d to win the pot with a seven-high straight.

Derrick Cutler – 36,500 (122 bb)
Chino Rheem – 5,300 (18 bb)

Event 9 Flight D: Chino Rheem Getting Frisky Early

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

As we arrived in the middle of the preflop action, three-time WPT champion Chino Rheem had 700 committed from the cutoff and was facing a reraise to 1,800 from Derrick Cutler in the small blind. After a little while mulling it over, Rheem reraised to 4,000. Now it was Cutler’s turn to tank, and he eventually folded.

Chino showed the 4h as he collected the pot.

Chino Rheem – 24,000 (120 bb)
Derrick Cutler – 18,000 (90 bb)

Event 9 Flight C: Salmon Bags Big

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
End of Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 74 of 449

James Salmon

Play has come to an end for Flight C with 74 players remaining from the starting 449 entries. James Salmon made a late run and bagged the overall Event 9 lead so far with 398,000.

Also advancing were John Dolan, Jason Young, Nick Yunis, Matt Waxman, Alex Rocha, and Eric Rivkin.

Full chip counts will be released as soon as they are available.

Event 9 Flight C: James Salmon Storms to End-of-Day Lead

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 85 of 449

The clock was paused with 10 minutes left in Level 14, and each table was instructed to play three more hands before calling it a day. Apparently, that was some sort of secret code for James Salmon to go ballistic.

On the penultimate hand, a player under the gun opened to 20,000, and Salmon three-bet to 100,000 in the big blind. The raiser put himself all in for just about that amount, and he was flipping for his tournament life in one of the largest pots of the day.

Salmon: AcKs
Opponent: 8d8h

The Th8s5d flop was a beautiful sight for the at-risk player, but the Qc turn and Jd river gave Salmon a runner-runner straight and the knockout.

While he was still stacking the chips, action folded around to Salmon in the small blind, and he raised to 6,000. The big blind three-bet shoved for 14,000 total, and Salmon called the remainder to the big blind at risk.

Salmon: Jd3h
Big blind: Jh6s

Salmon was dominated, but the Th8s3dAcTc run-out gave him a second consecutive knockout — this one with two pair.

He’s still doing some housekeeping on his towers of chips, but it looks like Salmon has moved into the overall chip lead across all three flights. Call it 400,000 for now, and we’ll get a hard count as he bags up in just a moment.

James Salmon – 400,000 (167 bb)

Event 9 Flight C: Matt Waxman Doubles Through Alex Rocha

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 Ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 99 of 449

Alex Rocha (left) and Matt Waxman (right)

Alex Rocha opened to 5,000 in middle position, Matt Waxman called in the cutoff, and both the button and big blind joined the pot to create four-way action.

The flop was KhJh2d. The big blind checked, Rocha continued for 10,300, and only Waxman called.

Heads-up now, the turn was the 6s. Rocha took a long look at his opponent’s remaining stack, then moved all in for 34,000 effective. Waxman quickly called all in, putting himself at risk for that amount.

Rocha: AhKs
Waxman: AsAc

Waxman’s well disguised aces had him poised to double-up, and he did just that as the 8h river completed the board with a blank.

Matt Waxman – 113,000 (47 bb)
Alex Rocha – 57,000 (24 bb)
