Championship Day 2: Level 19 Begins

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 19: 6,000/12,000/2,000 Ante

The players return from break to begin Level 19, with increased blinds of 6,000-12,000 and a 2,000 ante. Play will continue tonight until the end of Level 20, around 11:45 pm ET.

With 67 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 406,000 (34 big blinds).

The field is in the money, so these players are all guaranteed at least $15,000. The next pay jump is for 63rd place, which is worth $17,500.

Championship Day 2: Joseph Cheong vs. James Gilbert

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 18: 5,000/10,000/1,000 Ante

With the board showing KsJh7h4s on the turn, James Gilbert checked the hijack, Joseph Cheong bet 100,000 from the cutoff, and Gilbert called.

The river card paired the board with the Jc, Gilbert checked, Cheong bet 235,000, and Gilbert thought for a while before he called. Cheong showed 7d7c to win the pot with a full house, sevens full of jacks, and Gilbert mucked.

Joseph Cheong  –  760,000  (76 bb)
James Gilbert  –  438,000  (44 bb)

Championship Day 2: Ari Engel Doubles

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 18: 5,000/10,000/1,000 Ante

The flop read QhQs9c when Ari Engel bet 21,000 on the hijack. The big blind raised to 50,000 and Engel called. The turn was the 6s and Engel bet 66,000. The big blind raised all in and Engel called all in for 305,000.

The big blind revealed K-Q but Engel held 9s9d for a full house. The river fell 2c and Engel doubled up to survive with 632,000.

Championship Day 2: Kane Kalas Eliminated

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 18: 5,000/10,000/1,000 Ante

Jose Silva moved all in from middle position for 30,000, and Kane Kalas called from the big blind with 10d3d and a slightly larger stack. Silva turned over Ks8s, and he needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The board came AhQd7h2d2c, and Silva won the pot with his king to double up in chips and knock Kalas down to less than a single big blind.

Jose Silva  –  74,000  (7 bb)
Kane Kalas  –  9,000  (<1 bb)

The next hand, Thayer Rasmussen raised UTG+1 to 25,000, Neil Blumenfield reraised from the hijack to 60,000, and Kalas called all in from the small blind for 8,000. Rasmussen called the 60,000, creating a side pot of 104,000. Any further betting would go into the side pot.

The flop came 10h9h7s, Rasmussen checked, Blumenfield bet 65,000, and Rasmussen folded. Blumenfield took the side pot.

Kalas turned over 5d2c for five high, and he’d need something runner-runner to stay alive against Blumenfield’s Ac9c (pair of nines).

The turn was the Jc, the river was the Kd, and Blumenfield won the pot with his pair of nines to eliminate Kalas in 69th place.

Neil Blumenfield  –  755,000  (76 bb)
Kane Kalas  –  Eliminated in 69th Place  ($15,000)
