Event 1 Flight E: Albero Builds Big Stack

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 5: 150/300 with a 25 ante
Flight E Entries: 477

Roberto Albero

Players returned to their seats following the break and everyone is chasing Roberto Albero as the early chip leader. He moved his 15,000 starting stack over 50,000 with Joseph Massaro his closest competition at 48,650.

On an interesting note, Joseph Massaro has already advanced a stack to Day 2 and now trying to earn a $2,500 multi-stack payout. That stack he holds now is bigger than the one he “bagged” up in Flight C.

Top stacks and notables:

Roberto Albero – 54,500 (182 bb)
Joseph Massaro – 48,650 (162 bb)
Bryan Neira – 45,000 (150 bb)

Event 1 Flight E: First Break

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 4: 100/200
Flight E Entries: 425

Wally Maddah

Flight E players are on their first break of the day and they were well clear of 400 entries before they left. That’s a good start to the weekend and they are steadily filling the ballroom.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah made his way to the east coast of the state for the big series. He was unable to advance a stack last night but he’s looking good so far this afternoon.

Event 1 Flight E: Moving On Up

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 3: 75/150
Flight E Entries: 365

Ory Hen

We have a packed house today and players continue to push the entry count higher as the day progresses. We should see 400 registered before the first break and more than four hours to build it higher.

Ory Hen is still trying to advance his first stack to Day 2 but the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year has plenty of time to make that happen. One more SHRP title and he’ll have an even half-dozen to his credit with his last coming during the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open”.

Event 1 Flight E: Benjamin Building Number 2

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 2: 50/100
Flight E Entries: 281

Charlemagne Benjamin

The count is flying upwards, climbing at a brisk pace towards 300 before we reach the afternoon hours. It seems pretty clear we’ll top the 523-entry field from the opening flight and we’ll see how big they can get it.

SHRP regular Charlemagne Benjamin is back despite already owning a big stack from an earlier flight. The two-time SHRP champ is looking to take advantage of the Ultimate Re-Entry format and trying to collect a $2,500 for putting more than one stack forward. Benjamin can push his way to the money and play the bigger stack on Monday.

Event 1 Flight E: Starting Out Big

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 1: 25/50
Flight E Entries: 212

Michael Newman

All indications point to a huge day in the ballroom with more than 200 entries in the game before the first level is complete. There is a steady line at the desk and we should build the biggest field of the tournament so far.

Michael Newman is back for another shot at advancing a stack forward to Day 2. The seven-time SHRP champion is one solid score away from moving over $250,000 in career earnings after he picked up a title in each of the last two SHRP major series. Newman won the $570 buy-in/$50K Guarantee single day tournament during the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open and followed that up with a $360 Pot Limit Omaha trophy in the 2016 RRPO series.

Event 1 Flight E: Big Saturday Ready

$360 Ultimate Re-Entry No Limit Hold’em
Level 1: 25/50

David Prociak

We are halfway through the starting flights for the Ultimate Re-Entry and we’re already looking at some big numbers with four more to go. The $360 buy-in tournament crushed its $500,000 guarantee early in Flight D and continued to push the prize pool higher with $1,000,000 a clear possibility.

The Ultimate Re-Entry format allows players to participate in as many flights as they wish and collect a $2,500 payout for moving multiple stacks forward to Day 2. We’ve had 17 players manage that feat so far, including reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year David Prociak, with Zach Milchman and Phillip Gouneau advancing three stacks in four flights. The smallest stack(s) are paid out $2,500 and removed from play while the biggest stack will go into action on Day 2.

Players will sit down to 15,000 starting stacks and grind 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 13 at 5:45pm and they will continue to play until only 10% of the field remains. Those players will move on to Day 2 already in the money.

They will kick of Flight E at 11am and we will be here from start to finish.

  • Day 1 will end when 10% of starting field remain

Event 2: Patrick Maguire Wins Outright for $6,783

2017 Lucky Hearts Poker Open
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Event 2
$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Total Entries: 76
Prize Pool: $19,380
January 13, 2017

Hollywood, Fla. (January 13, 2017) – The first champion of the 2017 Lucky Hearts Poker Open came from Event 2, the $300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry). It drew 76 entries and generated a prize pool of $19,380. After more than 12 hours of play, 54-year-old Patrick Maguire outlasted the field and collected a first-place payday of $6,783.

Maguire isn’t an avid poker player, but likes to dabble on the felt from time to time. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Maguire is the owner of a management consulting firm and is enjoying his escape from the cold up north for the sunshine down south.

“My wife and I have a place in Hollywood, and we like to come here in the winter time. It’s 30 degrees and sleeting back home, and when you’re from Ohio, just being on the beach here is so amazing,” said Maguire.

While his biggest poker accomplishment is a 49th-place finish in the Seniors event at the 2016 World Series of Poker for $9,716, Maguire felt that tonight’s victory was more challenging.

“This was one of the toughest tournaments I’ve been in. Just winning this 76-person tournament felt harder than finishing top 50 out of 4,500 during the summer. There were a lot of good and seasoned players here who knew what they were doing, and fortunately things went my way in the end.”

While Maguire has to make a quick trip back to Cincinnati next week, he plans on returning to the Seminole Hard Rock for events later in the series.
