2015 Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year Update

In addition to the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Leaderboard, there is also a wider contest to become the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year.

The POY chase includes five major tournament series on Seminole properties starting with the completed 2014 Seminole Coco Poker Open and Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open”. There are two more series after this one with the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in April and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in August.

The player with the most points at the end of the series in August will receive a prize package worth more than $38,500 including the following:

  • $2,500 entry into Coco Poker Open Championship
  • $3,500 entry into Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” Championship
  • $3,500 entry into Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship
  • $3,500 entry into Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship
  • $5,300 entry into Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship
  • $2,500 entry into a Seminole Hard Rock Championship event
  • $10,000 cash for entry into Main Event
  • $3,000 cash
  • $2,000 in benefits for hotel accommodations and dining

2nd through 10th spots on the leaderboard will also receive various prize packages depending on their finishing position.

The current leader is Seminole Hard Rock Poker regular Nigel Murray with a nice lead over Robert Campbell, Ory Hen, Cliff Gladstone, and Steven McKoy.

Players will earn base points for participating in each event during a tournament series and will earn bonus points based on cash placed finished, buy-in amount and total number of entries.

There is still plenty of time to move up the leaderboard this series and the next two to come.

You can find all the rules, prizes, and current standing on the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year page.

The other day we mentioned the added bonus provided to event winners during the Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open, custom framed prints of the winner’s photo provided by Eric Harkins and IMPDI.

Most players have stopped by to pick up their bonus prize throughout the series, including Event 10 winner Pierre Rodriguez pictured below, but there are a few players with photos in the lobby.

If you won an event during the series and haven’t had a chance to grab your frame, feel free to stop by any time and it’s ready to go.

We noticed a few of the photos available including Ronald Winkelvoss, Matt Stout, Oscar Lindo, Eliyou Levy, Benjamin Matthews, Douglas Hartwick, and Giovanni Rodriguez.

Also in the field is someone who knows how to survive a brutal field but in quite a different way.

Reality TV star “Boston” Rob Mariano is here as a surprise entrant at Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood.  Mariano is best known for his stints on the hit TV show “Survivor”.  Mariano became one of most popluar players in the show’s long history and easily won the million dollar prize on his fourth try on the show “Survivor: Redemption Island”.

An avid poker player, Mariano is looking to add World Poker Tour champion to his resume here today.

Daryll Fish and Chino Rheem have been taking wild rides in this tournament and at the moment they’re going in opposite directions.

Fish has managed to fight his way back from just over 5,000 chips today to near 50,000. Rheem just tried to pull off a bluff with AK against trip sevens on a 7sTs9c7hJs board costing him most of his stack.

We’ll keep an eye on both of these players as we close in on the dinner break in a few mintues.

Though you may not know him in person, he’s been out there taking your money for a long time.

Mark Herm, the on-line superstar known as “dipthrong”,  is here at Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood.  Herm has been terrorizing the virtual felt since 2006 rolling up nearly $5,000,000 in winnings lifetime on-line.  Herm recently had his biggest cash at the 2014 WSOP finishing third in the Mixed Max event and just a few weeks ago picked up a live victory at the PCA.   Herm also recently accomplished the feat of winning back-to-back FTOPS Leaderboards – an unheard-of poker accomplishment.

Herm hopes his on-line accumen will translate into a WPT title this week as he’s sitting right next to the dangerous Rex Clinkscales and working his way through this Day 1C field.

In the house taking her shot at this WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open title is one of the few women of the women who have pulled off the feat of winning a WSOP bracelet in an open event.  Loni Harwood won Event #60 at the 2013 WSOP and is grinding away looking to add a WPT title to her fast-growing resume.

Harwood isn’t the only female bracelt winner at her table as she’s joined by the 2011 WSOP Ladies Event Champion, Marsha Wolak.  Having two female WSOP bracelet winners at one tournament table is a rarity but welcome to see in this male-dominated game.
