Event 9: David Brightman – 8th Place ($1,530)

$350 Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 19: 3,000/6,000/1,000 Ante

A big call by Jason Goch has taken us down to seven players in Event 9.

After David Brightman moved in for 125,000, Gooch decided to look him up and the race was on with Brightman holding 3h3c and Gooch with AcJc.  Gooch hit the As4d8d flop and the board ran out 2c4s eliminating Brightman.

David Brightman finishes in 8th place winning $1,530.

Event 9: Mike Graffeo – 9th Place ($1,148)

$350 Big Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 20: 4,000/8,000/1,000 Ante

After a raise to 20,000 chips from Alberto Silva, Mike Graffeo moved all-in for his last 110,000.  Silva made the call and the cards were turned up with Silva holding 7s7h and Graffeo showing AcQs.

Silva hit a set on the KdJc7c flop but Graffeo picked up a straight draw.  But the Jd came on the turn giving Silva a full house and a hammerlock on the hand.  The Tc hit the river and Graffeo was out.

Mike Graffeo finishes in 9th place winning $1,148.

Nigel Murray (Miami Gardens, FL)

Phil Laak doubled through Nigel Murray earlier in the level but his tournament was cut short by the same man.

Laak moved all-in with ThTs from the cutoff and Murray woke up with JcJd in the big blind. The board was a drama-free KcQh7c4dJh to send Laak out of the tournament and move Murray over 600,000.

There’s been little exciting action over the last half-level other than six tables worth of poker players watching the end of the NFL game between New England and Denver. It’s having an impact on the tournament.

We’re still sitting at 52 players with few short stacks while Phil Laak stayed alive when his Aces held up against Nigel Murray to move him over 250,000.

Championship: Chainsaw Doubles Late

Allen Kessler (left) doubles thru Michael Newman (right)
Allen Kessler (left) doubles thru Michael Newman (right)

Allen Kessler’s stack dropped beneath 100,000 and he took a double up shot with a good chance to win. He moved all-in for 71,000 and Michael Newman looked him up with TcTd

Kessler was well ahead with KcKh and virtually locked up the hand on the KdJd7c flop. The Ts turn gave Newman a single out to send Kessler to the rail but “Chainsaw” wasn’t sweating the 4c river.

“I’ve never lost a 1000-to-1,” Kessler told his table as he moved up to ~150,000.
