Event 4: MNF Game Over – Now We Can Play Poker!

$260 +$40 No Limit Hold’em

Blinds 600/1.2K Ante 200

As the Monday Night Football game came to a close, the majority of the poker players in Event 4 were focused on that rather than their table. There were a lot of peek at cards and fold. If someone didn’t fold, it was usually because they had a good hand. We did see one double up when a woman in Seat 6 moved all in for her last 12.4K with pocket 3’s and was up against a big stack with KdTh. The flop came with three diamonds but she was able to fade all of her opponent’s outs to double up.

Another player was not as lucky. He moved all in with A-K and was called by a big stack who held pocket 8’s. Things were looking good when he flopped an ace but an 8 on the river meant his tournament was over. He pushed his stack of chips into the middle towards the lucky big stack who could only say “sorry bud” as he added more chips to his ever growing stack.

There are 21 players remaining.

Event 3: No One Wants To Go Home

$200 + $40 Omaha Eight or Better

Blinds: 1K/2K – Limits: 2K/4k

When we get to ten players, we will merge the two remaining tables to one table. Apparently no one is in a rush to do so as we’ve been steady at 11 players remaining for the last hour. There is four minutes left in the level at which time they go on break and will decide whether to continue or not when they return.

Event 4: I Made A Very Bad Call

$260 +$40 No Limit Hold’em

Blinds: 300/600 Ante 75

The player in Seat  8 had moved all in over the top of two other players – it happened to be Adam “Roothlus” Levy who moved to Florida recently and is taking part in the tournament action here at The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock. An older gentleman in a Yankees cap in Seat 2 decided he wanted to gamble and went all in as well. The other player folded deuces face up saying “I’m folding the winner here.” Seat 2 says to Levy “Adam, I made a very bad call” and turns over AsTh. Adam shrugs and says “you can still hit an ace” and turns over TcTs. It wasn’t the ace that would win the hand for seat 2, however, as four hearts would hit the board to give him a flush. To add insult to injury, the dealer put out the meaningless case ten to give Levy a set. That pot took Seat 2 over 30K on the tournament and he went over personally to Roothlus to apologize. He smiled, shook it off, and said “if I can get everyone to keep doing that, I’ll be in good shape.”

There are 47 players remaining of the original 133.

Event 3 Update

$200 + $40 Omaha Eight or Better

Blinds: 800/1.6K – Limits: 1.6K/3.2k

There are 13 players left out of the original 53. We’ll be getting down to the final table soon but only six players will be getting paid. We’ll be stopping when we get to ten players or 11 p.m., whichever comes first unless the players decide otherwise. Probably won’t be playing on if this tournament is like most Omaha 8 tournaments.
