The field is down to five tables with the last elimination on Table 39 to get us to 45 remaining. The kindly, quiet gentleman was all-in preflop and heads up for a nice change of pace. He was holding versus and looking for tournament salvation.

The flop came to give him him Aces up but the gave his opponent with a set. A flush would save is day but the river was the wrong club and he took the trip downstairs. Staff broke a table and now the final five tables are back to 9-handed play.

No further eliminations over the last level but tournament staff have been busy crunching the tournament numbers. Event 3 drew 53 players with an overlay of $1,400 and paying the top six spots. Min-cash will earn $720 while the winner will take away $4,680.

Players are starting to drop out of the tournament after getting low on chips and taking a shot. The 6-seat at Table 38 was left with just 1,400 after getting scooped and found a hand to go with the next deal. The betting was capped before the board and he was all-in on the flop.

Three players checked down the turn and river and the 6-seat turned over a premium starting hand for Aces up and busted wheel draw. The 2-seat tabled for trip Kings and the scoop. Four other players have been shown the door leaving 48 of the starting 53 still in action.

Players are on their first break of Event 3 with no elimination in the first two hours. Players have until the end of the 15-minute break to register for the tournament and the clock currently shows 51 entrants in the field.

The early parts of a limit tournament lack drama but make up for it with interesting plays. Players are getting fancy with any combination of hands, low draws, and multi-way pots. Six players to the flop is the rule rather than the exception.

Table 37 saw the betting capped with five players seeing the flop. The big blind called with followed by four of those players capping the flop betting. Everything slowed down on the turn and river with the big blind showing down top-two with his 64 good for the low and the scoop. Not the optimum Omaha/8 starting hand but he had an explanation for the table.

“I’ll play any four cards at this level,” he said, “the price was right.”

Level 3 is underway with 150/300 limits and 49 players showing on the clock. Only 45 minutes remain for late registration/re-entry.

Players are still making their way to the tournament area after registering and the player count continue to click upwards. No big action early as the limits have not put pressure on stacks but players will start to mix it up as the levels increase.

Among the 43 players in the field so far are local regular Errol Massey, one-time Event 1 chipleader Luis Santino, and one gentleman in an awesome cowboy hat.

The third event in the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” is a change up from No Limit Hold’em tournaments and switching over to Omaha Eight or Better. Split pot games draw a specialized group of players and we expect to see interesting poker as players aim to scoop their opponents on their way to the top prize.

The $240 buy-in tournament has a $12,000 guaranteed prize pool and have 40-minute levels with two hours of late registration/re-entry.

As the clock struck three in the morning and players were told they would have to bag and tag and return 12 hours later, the six remaining players decided to chop it up.  As a result of the deal, this is the final order of finish:

Lee has been playing poker since 2008 and said this is by far his biggest payday – his previous largest being around $2,000.
