Event 6 Day 1G: Play Begins

The Day 1G starting flight for Event 6 ($125 no-limit hold’em – $150,000 guaranteed) has begun with blinds at 25-50 and starting stacks worth 10,000. They will play 14 30-minute levels with a 15-minute break every two levels this evening and play should end just before 7 p.m.

The total field size is already 2,089 players so the prize pool us up to $208,900. There are still two starting flights that will take place on Wednesday so that number could grow to 3,000 and double the guaranteed prize pool. Here is a breakdown of the remaining schedule for today.

Wednesday, August 14: Day 1H – 3 p.m.
Wednesday, August 14: Day 1I – 7 p.m.

Players can re-enter in any of these starting flights. Stay tuned tonight for further coverage from all of Wednesday’s starting flights and see which players advance to join the 223 that have already made it to Day 2 on Thursday, August 15.

Here is a look at turnouts and survivors from the previous starting flights:

Flight A (Mon @ 11 am):  36 of 285
Flight B (Mon @ 3 pm):  35 of 347
Flight C (Mon @ 7 pm):  44 of 397

Flight D (Tue @ 11 am):  25 of 278
Flight E (Tue @ 3 pm):  36 of 406
Flight F (Tue @ 7 pm):  47 of 376

Tuesday Night Recap: Another Guarantee Is Smashed at the SHRPO

There was only one event in action on Tuesday in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, as it was the second starting day for Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em), with three flights starting at 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm.

This event needed to attract a field of at least 1,500 entrants to clear the $150,000 prizepool guarantee, and that number was surpassed about halfway through the day. Even if registration closed after two starting days instead of three, the prizepool would already be more than $200,000.

But there are still three more starting flights tomorrow (Wednesday) to grow the prizepool even larger.

Here is a breakdown of the starting fields for each flight:

Flight A (Mon @ 11 am):  285
Flight B (Mon @ 3 pm):  347
Flight C (Mon @ 7 pm):  397

Flight D (Tue @ 11 am):  278
Flight E (Tue @ 3 pm):  406
Flight F (Tue @ 7 pm):  376

Flight G (Wed @ 11 am):  ?
Flight H (Wed @ 3 pm):  ?
Flight I (Wed @ 7 pm):  ?

Total Field Size (so far):  2,089
Total Prizepool (so far):  $208,900

So there have been 2,089 entrants in this tournament so far, but most of them have already busted. How many survivors have made it through?

Flight A:  36
Flight B:  35
Flight C:  44

Flight D:  25
Flight E:  36
Flight F:  47

Flight G:  ?
Flight H:  ?
Flight I:  ?

Total # of Survivors to Day 2 (so far):  223

Of those 223 survivors, only 11 made it thru Day 1 with more than 200,000 in chips. Here’s the top of the leaderboard, with the blinds increasing to 1,500-3,000 and a 300 ante:

1.  Edward Gilfillan  –  305,400  (101 bb)
2.  Corey Zarnoch  –  274,800  (91 bb)
3.  Leonard Sande  –  268,000  (89 bb)
4.  Manny Julve  –  235,300  (78 bb)
5.  Nancy Birnbaum  –  229,100  (76 bb)
6.  Mark Zand  –  225,800  (75 bb)
7.  Gerardo Gonzalez  –  225,200  (75 bb)
8.  Beatris Gonzalez  –  216,600  (72 bb)
9.  Ryan Gunderson  –  212,300  (70 bb)
10.  Jeremy Costa  –  201,000  (67 bb)
11.  Michael Chwiej  –  200,800  (66 bb)

Will the field size reach 3,000? Will the prizepool reach $300,000 for a $125 buy-in tournament? And will anyone from the three starting flights on Wednesday be able to cross the 300,000 mark and catch Edward Gilfillan for the Day 1 chip lead?

Return to SHRPOlive.com on Wednesday for the answers to these and other questions.

Event 6: Pasquale Caiazza Tops Final 47 From Day 1F

Flight 1F came to an end with 47 survivors remaining from the 376 who started at 7:00 pm. Here’s a look at the top five players who finished from this flight:

1.  Pasquale Caiazza  –  192,500  (64 bb)
2.  Taylor Moore  –  166,400  (55 bb)
3.  John Holley  –  150,900  (50 bb)
4.  Michael Johnson  –  150,000  (50 bb)
5.  Gabriel Ramos  –  144,200  (48 bb)

A full summary of the day will be posted soon.

Event 6, Day 1F: Pasquale Caiazza Has Nearly Lapped the Field

There were 375 players who started the 7:00 pm Day 1F of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150K Guarantee), and as they return from the last break of the day, there are 59 players remaining.

The average chip stack is about 63,500, which is worth 31 big blinds.

Normally, during the last break of a starting flight, we’ll scan the field for chip stacks above 120,000 to find the leaderboard. But tonight, in Flight 1F, there was only one player above that mark — Pasquale Caiazza.

Caiazza has 209,000, nearly twice as much as the next closest stack, which belongs to Steven Moreno (119,000).

1.  Pasquale Caiazza  –  209,000  (104 bb)
2.  Steven Moreno  –  119,000  (59 bb)

Nobody else in the field has much over 100,000, but that will certainly change as they play one more hour before bagging-and-tagging their chips for the night.

Event 6, Day 1E: 36 Survive as Edward Gilfillan Cracks 300K

There were 406 entrants in Flight 1E of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150K Guarantee), which started at 3:00 pm. This has been the largest flight of the tournament so far.

After 14 levels of play, there were 36 players left who made it thru to Day 2, which will play out on Thursday. Here are the official chip counts, with the blinds increasing to 1,500-3,000 and a 300 ante on Day 2:

1.  Edward Gilfillan  –  305,400  (101 bb)
2.  Manny Julve  –  235,300  (78 bb)
3.  Nancy Birnbaum  –  229,100  (76 bb)
4.  Beatris Gonzalez  –  216,600  (72 bb)
5.  Paul Balzano  –  183,500  (61 bb)
6.  Baruch Altman  –  167,000  (55 bb)
7.  Manuel Santos  –  159,400  (53 bb)
8.  Evan Snow  –  152,600  (50 bb)

26.  Steven Zaffos  –  54,800  (18 bb)
27.  Ory Hen  –  54,700  (18 bb)
28.  Richard Smith  –  54,700  (18 bb)
29.  Shannon Sievers  –  47,600  (15 bb)
30.  Alfred Forman  –  46,800  (15 bb)
31.  Lanier Marchant Davenport  –  42,500  (14 bb)
32.  José Luis Arce Guzman  –  39,400  (13 bb)

35.  Doug Schmult  –  33,700  (11 bb)
36.  David Carpenter  –  33,200  (11 bb)

Edward Gilfillan is the first player from any flight to cross the 300,000 mark, so he is the overall chipleader so far.

There will be three more flights tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm, making the total field size even larger, and shattering the $150,000 guaranteed prizepool.

Event 6, Day 1F: Nadim Faraj Leads with 126 Left

There were 375 players who started the 7:00 pm Day 1F of Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150K Guarantee), and after eight levels, there are 126 remaining.

The players return from their second break to begin Level 9, with increased blinds of 400-800 and a 100 ante. The average chip stack is about 29,700, which is about 37 big blinds.

Here is a look at the top of the leaderboard from the break:

1.  Nadim Faraj  –  112,000  (140 bb)
2.  Ben Sriqui  –  86,000  (107 bb)
T-3.  Peter Bejusca  –  80,000  (100 bb)
T-3.  Michael Johnson  –  80,000  (100 bb)

Action will continue tonight until the end of Level 14, which should be around 2:40 am ET.
