The rapper Nelly has re-entered the field here on Day 1C, proving he wasn’t just making a token appearance in this tournament — he came to play.

Technically, Nelly came to perform, appearing last night at Passion Nightclub here at the Seminole Hard Rock, and he put on a great show last night as the tournament poker players got special access to a VIP section.

Tonight, Passion Nightclub will be showcasing DJ Mom Jeans, a.k.a. actor Danny Masterson from “That ’70s Show,” who is also in the field playing today. So if you missed Nelly last night, be sure to catch DJ Mom Jeans tonight.

Softer Field Today

The Day 1C field is both the largest and the softest at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. There are currently 803 players in the field today but there are fewer professionals per table than the other Day 1 starting flights. A lot of the players that won their seats in the satellite tournaments are taking their shots today, and the fact that today is Saturday means some recreational poker players taking their shot at the $10 million prize pool on an off-day from the day job.

$10 Million Guarantee Reached as Field Hits 2,000 Players

The Day 1C field just hit 676 entrants, which means the three-day total has reached 2,000 — meeting the $10 million guarantee!

The 2,000th entrant was none other than 1996 WSOP Main Event champion Huck Seed.

Huck Seed

When this tournament series — the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open — was announced a year ago with a $5,300 buy-in main event that held a $10 million guaranteed prizepool, most of the poker world didn’t believe it.

But they not only stood behind their guarantee, they reached it. And with more than seven hours left in the registration period, they will easily surpass it. So the prizepool is now $10 million and counting, with more than $1.5 million for first place.
