The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida will award $12.5 million in guaranteed prize pools at 33 events that run from August 8-29. Everything leads up to the $5,300 no-limit hold’em championship event that starts on August 22 and features a $10 million guarantee that will crown a champion on August 28. Another marquee event on the schedule is the inaugural World Poker Tour Alpha8 $100,000 no-limit hold’em high roller event that runs on August 26 and 27.

Other preliminary events to keep an eye on include Event No. 1 ($350 no-limit hold’em – $500,000 guaranteed), Event No. 6 ($125 no-limit hold’em – $150,000 guaranteed prize pool), Event No. 7($560 no-limit hold’em – $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool), and Event No. 23 ($150 no-limit hold’em – $50,000 guaranteed prize pool). The third flight of players for Event 6 ($125 No-Limit Hold’em w/ $150,000 Guarantee) started with 397 players, and finished with 44 survivors heading into Day 2.

Combine those numbers with the first two flights that played earlier today and you get 115 survivors from a field of 1,029 entrants. But this is only the first of three starting days, and each day has three flights starting at 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm. Players can play as many starting flights as they’d like, but they can only carry over a single surviving chip stack.

There were three players in Flight C that finished above 200,000 in chips:

Flight C of Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guarantee) started at 7:00 pm ET with 397 players, and when they took their final break of the day at 1:30 am ET, there were 64 players remaining.

There were seven players with more than 100,000 in chips at the break, so here is the updated leaderboard with blinds at 1,000-2,000 and a 200 ante:

With 64 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 62,000 (31 big blinds). The field will play two more levels tonight, and action should end around 2:40 am ET.

The tournament poker room is mostly empty here at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which is a big change from earlier today. There were four tournaments that played their final tables today, and three staggered starting flights for Event 6 ($125 NLHE w/ $150K Guaranteed Prizepool).

But everything has wrapped up except for the third starting flight in Event 6, which we’re calling Day 1C. There are currently 77 players left from the 397 who started this third flight.

Event 6 needs to attract 1,500 players to meet the $150,000 guaranteed prizepool. There have already been 1,029 entrants here today, and there will be three more starting flights tomorrow, and another three on Wednesday. Players can enter as many flights as they’d like, so the guarantee won’t just be reached, it will likely be crushed.

There is an hour and a half of play left for the Day 1C players tonight.

The Day 1B starting flight for Event 6 ($125 no-limit hold’em – $150,000 guaranteed) has come to a close with 35 players remaining from the field of 347 that entered. They will join the 36 survivors from Day 1A on Thursday, August 15 at 1 p.m. ET. Day 1C will conclude later tonight at 3 a.m.

The total field size is already 1,029 players so the prize pool us up to $102,900. There are still quite a few starting flights that will take place during the next two days so that number could grow to 3,000 and double the guaranteed prize pool. Here is a breakdown of the remaining schedule.

The Day 1B flight of event 6 is closing in on the last level of the night and 53 players remain from the 347 that entered this particular start point.

After the close of registration in the Day 1C flight the number of players that entered was 397 and that means that the total number of entries is now over 1,000 (1,029) in Event 6 ($125 no-limit hold’em – $150,000 guaranteed). That puts the prize pool at $102,900, well on pace to beat the guarantee easily given that there are six more starting flights taking place over the next two days.

The Day 1B flight has 80 players remaining from the 347 that entered. Day 1C is now up to 325 entrants and counting. The total field size is closing in on 1,000 players with registration still open until 9 p.m. ET.
