Nissin Vaknin
Nissin Vaknin

Nissin Vaknin (Davie, FL) has accumulated quite a stack.  He’s up to about 230k and lording it over his table.  He admitted he “got a lot of gifts” from “a bunch of donkeys”.  Of course those donkeys are gone and that doesn’t apply to his current table-mates.

Just after we chatted, his table broke and he was moved to a new table in search of more donkeys to donate.

Event 2: Another Omaha-lic

$300 Big Stack Pot Limit Omaha (Re-Entry)

Level 9:  Blinds 500/1,000

Registration has closed for this event.  There were (unofficially) a total of 44 entries for a total prize pool of $11,220.

Kevin Love
Kevin Love

Another familiar face in this crowd is Kevin Love.  Kevin has two previous final tables here playing the High/Low version of Omaha.  He finished 3rd in the 2014 SHRPO PLO/8 event and 7th in the 2013 SHRPO PLO/8 event.

Today they’re playing he HIGH only version of PLO, so they won’t be splitting pots with the low hands.

Tristan Wade
Tristan Wade

A couple more WSOP bracelet holders have been spotted in the crowd and they have more than bracelets in common.  Tristan Wade and David Diaz are both playing today.  They finished first and second, respectively, back in August at the WSOP Circuit Main Event in West Palm Beach.

Event 1: Sader’s Suckout Seminar

350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Hassan Sader
Hassan Sader

Hassan Sader (Wellington, FL) gave his opponent a “suckout seminar” when the unfortunate man in seat 7 got all-in preflop holding pocket 4s.

Hassan had AK and the board ran clean until the river, when a King landed.  After dispatching his opponent, Hassan chipped up to about 90k, making him one of the early chip leaders.

Event 1: Tweet-Time

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 6:  Blinds 200/400/50 ante

There are a few tweeters in action today.  If you want us to find your Tweets, make sure to include #SHRPO!

Event 2: Omaha-lics

$300 Big Stack Pot Limit Omaha (Re-Entry)

Level 4:  Blinds 100/200

The Omaha field is growing slowly.  They’re up to 22 entries and counting.

Robert Campbell
Robert Campbell

Among the players opting for Omaha over No Limit Hold’em today is Robert Campbell.  Robert won the Pot Limit Omaha H/L event here during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open back in August, taking the top prize in a five-way chop.

Robert also won the PLO H/L event at Coconut Creek in September and here in March during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.  He also has a Limit Omaha H/L title from the Orleans in May.  It appears that Robert fares better in the High/Low versions of Omaha, so we’ll see how he handles today’s High-only game.

Event 1: Break Time

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

End of Level 4:  Blinds 100/200

Players are on a well-deserved break after the first two hours of play.  There are already 260 entries in this flight.

Late registration and re-entry are available until the start of level 9 (about 3:30pm) so there’s plenty of time for more arrivals.

This event carries a $500,000 guarantee on the total prize pool.

Event 1: Representing the Ladies

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 4:  Blinds 100/200

Blinds are climbing every half hour.  Players will be rewarded with a break after level 4.

Marsha Wolak
Marsha Wolak

The ladies are making a strong showing here today.  In addition to 2014 POY Angel Vu, we’ve got WSOP bracelet winner Marsha Wolak in the house.

Another strong female player in the field is Nancy Birnbaum, who has three WSOP Circuit rings to her credit.
