Clifford Conners (Westminster, CA)

Flight E players returned from their first break of the day as they blast towards a 500-entrant day. That’s a lock and we’re into the realm of massive numbers.

Clifford Conners is your early Flight E leader with more 230 big blinds to wield in Level 5. Francois Guittierez and local favorite Cindy Baumel are not far behind and round out the list of players over 60,000. Not a bad start from their opening 20,000 stack.

Top stacks and notables:

Event 1 Flight E: Four More Bills

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 Ante
Flight E Entrants: 417

Jason Young (Delray Beach, FL)
Jason Young (Delray Beach, FL)

The swell is turning into a full-on wave of players getting in the game as we’re seeing the exponential growth of re-entries. More than 400 entrants are here before the first break and this should easily have the biggest field of the tournament so far.

We caught up with 2008 WSOP bracelet winner Jason Young building up his starting stack. He flopped the joint with Th9d and earned three street’s of value against an unbelieving opponent. Young has $775,000 in career earnings and holds a big Borgata title along with his WSOP glory.

Event 3: Triple Digit Seniors

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 100/200 with a 25 Ante
Total Entrants: 103

Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL)
Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL)

The Seniors Event more than doubled in size by the time they hit the first break and crossed over 100 entrants when they returned to their seats.

Marsha Wolak is among the crowd today and trying to earn her fifth career title. The four she has are impressive on their own. She owns a WSOP Circuit ring and an SHRP Seniors Event title from the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, but Wolak hit her biggest score (and “trophy”) when she captured the WSOP Ladies Championship bracelet in 2011.

Event 1 Flight E: Sheddy Pushes Them Higher

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100
Flight E Entrants: 306

Sheddy Siddiqui (Pembroke Pines, FL)
Sheddy Siddiqui (Pembroke Pines, FL)

We’re seeing the numbers swell in the Friday morning flight with more than 300 entrants hopping in before they hit the noon hour. That’s on pace to make it the biggest flight of the tournament so far and it’s going to be a huge number by the time registration closes at 3:30pm.

Sheddy Siddiqui is taking his first shot at the $1 Million GTD event today and was in his seat early. The Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member is looking to pad his $1.2 million in career earnings that include a fifth place finish in the massive 2015 WSOP Millionaire Maker event and runner-up result in this past spring’s $1,650 Deepstack Series for another $110,000.

Event 1 Flight E: Getting Big

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50
Flight E Entrants: 210

Bruce McGregor (Port Orange, FL)
Bruce McGregor (Port Orange, FL)

We expected a big crowd for the Friday morning session and we’re seeing just that. The entrant count crossed over 200 midway through the first level and we’re seeing a consistent parade of players through the front doors.

Among them we found Bruce McGregor back in town for some action. The two-time SHRP champion told us he like the value in this small buy-in/big prize pool tournament and took a few days away from home to attempt to get a huge payout.

Event 1 Flight E: Hitting the Weekend

$360 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

Event 1 hit the starting day midpoint last night with four flights in the books and four remaining. The numbers have been impressive as we head into the weekend where they will only grow.

So far, the total entrant count stands at 1,712 combined across those four flights with 313 players booking their spot on Sunday for Day 2. The $1 Million Guarantee is within sight and we’ll see how close we can get today.

Entrants will start with 20,000 stacks out front and levels last 30 minute during the starting flights. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and unlimited re-entries are available during that time. Play will continue until the end of Level 14 when all remaining players will bag up their stacks for Day 2. If players do not make it that far, Flight F kicks off at 6pm.

It will be a busy day in the ballroom with nearly all the tables in use and we’ll keep an eye on the expanding field.

  • $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion
  • Event 1 Structure Sheet

Event 3: Kessler Among Growing Field

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50
Total Entrants: 50

Jeff Kessler (Plantation, FL)
Jeff Kessler (Plantation, FL)

Seniors Event players are having a good time, plenty of laughs between hands with some needles flying. The only joking complaint was the tournament location.

“Why did you put us back in the corner!” one player laughed with tournament staff. “That’s a long walk for us old guys.”

The entrant count matched the age requirement soon after the start including Jeff Kessler trying for another title in this event. It’s been a while (he had to check with us for the exact year) but he earned the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” title back in the glory days of 2013 when the series was held in the Poker Room.

Event 3: Friday Morning Seniors

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

You have to get up pretty early to play in the Seniors Event and you have to be 50 years old as well. Event 3 has a 10am start time in the ballroom and we expect a nice crowd for a little morning poker fun.

The Seniors Event is always a good time and it will keep the room hopping.

The tournament has a $300 buy-in and each player will sit down to a 10,000 starting stack. They will play 30-minute levels all day long with late registration and unlimited re-entries open until the start of Level 9 at 2:30pm. This is a one-day tournament and we’ll find our second champion of the series before the night is complete.

  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • Players must be born on or before 11/18/1966
