Schahin Ghiai opened to 16,000 from middle position and Padraig O’Neill moved all in for 67,000 from the small blind. Tomas Soderstrom folded his big blind and Ghiai quickly called.
Ghiai: O’Neill:
O’Neill was in great shape for his needed double but Ghiai hit the flop to take the lead with his paired ace. The turn and river could not help O’Neill and he was sent out in eighth place.

After 15 hours of play on Day 2, they were still unable to determine a champion for the opening event of the 2019 RRPO. There were still 13 players remaining when action was halted at 3 am and they return this afternoon at 2 pm to play it out.
Pedro Catinchi is a great story coming back to the bonus day. He was down to a single 5K chip late in the tournament but spun it up to return as the frontrunner. John Two-Bears sits not far behind in second place and the two of them have a significant lead over the rest of the field.
They will combine for the final table when nine players remain and they will begin working their way down to a champion who is set to take home more than a quarter of a million dollars.
Cards go back in the air at 2 pm and we will have all the action.

“Look at this!” Wally Maddah joked. “This is the feature table!”
While there are no official “feature tables” in the Seminole Ballroom, Table 32 is pretty special. Besides Maddah in the 1-seat, we have two-time SHRP champ Evan Teitelbaum, WSOP Seniors champ Howard Mash, two-time SHRP winner (and current chip leader) Paul Balzano, 2015 Showdown Event 1 champ James Salmon, 2013 RRPO Seniors champ Jeff Kessler, and November Niner Neil Blumenfield.
Sunday was a busy day in the Seminole Ballroom with multiple tournaments playing out including 720 players returning for Day 2 of the opening event. At one point, every one of the 90 tables were in use.
Of all the tournaments, only one of them played to a champion. Event 7 was a one-day $400 Deep Stack tournament with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. It was easily surpassed by the 263 entries and they pushed it to nearly $90,000.
Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood poker regular Sheldon Gross outlasted the entire field and took home more than $20,000 for the outright win after defeating Anthony Barbera in the heads-up match. It was his first career tournament and pushed his career tournament earnings over $250,000.
Event 7 final table results:
1st: Sheldon Gross – $20,370 2nd: Anthony Barbera – $14,328 3rd: Alexandru Ivan – $9,166 4th: Ginold Rendel – $5,575 5th: Stephen Vecchio – $4,306 6th: Adam George – $3,568 7th: Wanlop Phonphornwithoon – $2,996 8th: Angelo Miele – $2,504 9th: James Kirvin III – $2,037
Event 1 had 720 players return for Day 2 on Sunday with 470 set to make some money. The bubble burst before the first break and they continued to play until action was halted in the early hours. Pedro Catinchi was nearly felted but will lead the 13 players returning for Day 3 with more than $250K up top.

Event 1 wasn’t the only tournament set to move its action over to Monday afternoon. Event 8 is a $1,700 buy-in Purple Chip Bounty NLH tournament with a talented group of players joining. The single re-entry tournament drew 111 entries for an easy pass of the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Day 1 came to an end after Level 17 and eight players were still alive at the final table. They also return at 2 pm to play down to a champion with Zhi Cheng Wu leading.

Flight A of the $600 Deep Stack is over 100 entries before the first break and already setting a nice trend towards flying past the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.
A lot of that is thanks to our regular, loyal players who come out to support our big series. The early crew on a Monday includes Eli Levy, David Shmuel, and Paul Balzano. All past major SHRP winners and all capable of adding another trophy.
